Wow so my multi colored set up is stock. I thought someone swapped the transfer case out at some time. Now I have to decide on original or not. I'm thinking all blue would look much better. Hmmmm

WOOT !

Engine block is back from the machine shop - cylinders are bored .050 (1.25mm) to match the donor pistons, and the head deck was double- checked for flatness...

So, with confirmation that this engine is totally rebuildable, I went ahead and ordered my main bearings, rod bearings, and piston rings today.

Things are moving slowly, but at least they haven't ground to a complete halt 8-)

My piston rings that I ordered are wrong...

I told Hastings I needed .050" over (50 thousandths of an inch, or 1.25mm over bore), and they sent me .50mm over, which is only .020" over, so they are too small.

And to compound the issue, Hastings doesn't even offer .050/1.25mm oversize rings in the Nissan PPU/P40 set - They offer .020, .030, .040, and then they jump to .060....

But, they are willing to take the wrong ones back and do a return order for me, so I guess I'm going to get the .060 rings, and file the compression rings down to achieve the correct gap (the hot-rod gearhead in me is all over this idea 8-) ).

For the oil scrapers, I will file the framing rings the same way, and then will decide whether to re-size the flex ring, or re-use the flex rings that are already on the pistons...
