Hey! Is that new rubber in the door jams? If so where did you get it? Also I just noticed the red handles on the windsheild Latch, Whats up with that? Looks like an emergency lever of some sort. I like it.

Congratulations, you are the first one to point that out!

When I had those off I was preparing to paint them the same as the body color. Obviously, I am a person who has a problem staying on the path of normalcy (not sure if that's a word) so I used some red paint. I was going for the "Evacuation Latch" look. Kinda adds a pop to the decor, hu? After I did it I wasn't too sure. I figured I'd post a pic and wait for one of the Patrol Masters (you being one of 'em :) to comment. I didn't want to desecrate her but had to be a little different. Please give me your honest take on it. Should I paint 'em gray or black? Thanks for your input.

As for the rubber. Please forgive me, I used a product off the shelf. It fits perfect and looks clean. It is available at Lowe's. It is in the weather stripping section. The packages are color-coded. The automotive packaging is purple. It's the only square moulded strip they sell. I bought 2 packages and it covered both doors, windshield to door, and the rear doors.

Thanks again,
Kris

Forgive you? I think that's an awesome discovery for those of us who appreciate originality, but aren't willing to search the globe for years looking for it.... 8-)

Did the Lowes product work to seal the bottom of the door to the tub as well?

BTW - the latches look cool in red if red is what you like - The gray, combined with the red latches gives a very "Remove before flight" feel that goes perfectly with the Driveway Bomb ...

Thanks, Robert.

The product number is 161713 at Lowe's. Cost is 7 bucks. If you go to Lowes.com you can search this number and see the details. It fits good in the channels but doesn't serve much of a purpose for the bottom of the door. It isn't thick enough to provide a seal. I just put it there to give it a clean look for now.

I say you leave them red untill it bothers you! I Think it gives it a good POP. On the Weather stripping side, The seal is good except for the Bottom? Who cares where it came from if it works. Great job! Oh by the way, I'm hardly an expert... more like a needy Hack! :D

Truth be told, I have no idea how good it is yet (Weather strip) :shifty:

I saw the stuff on the shelf and decided to give it a try. When I got home I applied it and it seemed to fill in the gap perfectly. As for the depth of the rubber..., not sure just how good it will seal. I have the doors propped open due to paint curing. I guess I can shut 'em now and see. The bottom sucks. It serves no purpose other than aesthetics *.

I failed to mention, I also bought some regular weather strip. It is about 1 1/2" wide X 3/8" high. Not sure what is suppose to be used for (house windows?) but I highly doubt it is for autos. I used it across the rear tub. When the doors are closed it lies underneath. It seems to works nicely. *I will try that along the tub where the front doors contact.

Sorry for wasting your time with this next post but I figured if anyone is following it they would find this info "informative". Leslie has first-hand knowledge of this issue and needs to know.

On 2-28-14 I arrived home as I would any other day. As I pulled up to my driveway I noticed my Patrol where she always is. All is normal.
As I walked to my front door and greet my boys (dogs) I happen to glance over my fence and see the door to my garage, open. I thought to myself; I remember closing it before I left to work...
I went to investigate :text-google: and as I entered I noticed a scene that looked like a barfight took place. Everything from parts, antique motorcycle gear, signs, towels, camera equip, current restoration projects, outdoor powered equip, tools, C mas decor and yes, PATROL SEATS was on the floor and destroyed! I went from thinking I was burglarized to vandalized to realizing I had a 1 year old Mastiff with a death wish.

My Mastiff, Jeff, had discovered how to bite the door handle and enter the garage while I was at work. Based on the amount of destruction I guesstimate he entered the garage approximately 15-45 seconds after I had left to work. I'm sure if you take the liberal view, I am at fault. Since I am not a liberal I didnt take that view and held him directly responsible for his actions. I beat the crap out of him. 3 days later, we have put it behind us and he no longer limps and is now eating solid food.

Among the destruction are my poor Patrol seats. No longer are they in perfect condition. In fact, they are completely wasted. I hope to be able to salvage the steel and have them redone.

I have found the courage to post this awful moment but am still unable to post photos. Perhaps someday I will be able to fully come to grips with this awful moment in my life.

I found the strength to post this in order to help those with stupid, inconsiderate, selfish animals. Hopefully you will open your eyes to realizing this type of animal-like behavior exists. Dont live in denial, protect yourself. Inspect your door handles for bite marks. I was too impatient to inspect it prior but can now see, this was not his first attempt.

You may be asking how I 'know" it was Jeff? Maybe it was Kode E? Perhaps it was Tex Ass? The answer is NO. You see, when I went in my garage to inspect it Kode E and Tex Ass were at my side. Where was Jeff? HIDING. That's right, HIDING! In fact, when I went to speak to him about the alledged K9 vandalism I couldn't even catch him. :animals-dogrun: Kinda like O.J....

***DISCLAIMER*** Animals were harmed in this situation and as a result, are far less likely to commit such atrocities in the future.

Oh man that's awful! I'm sorry to hear about the destruction! He's pretty big so I hope you didn't strain yourself knocking him about!

By the way, Barritt will take him if you want to ship him up this way... She fell in love with him when we visited!
