I think it was probably a toss up, repairing that firewall or fixing the rotted out side vents. I don't envy you taking on either task.

Rob if you don't have one, a die grinder with a pad on it is real nice to have. You can run 36g on up on the pad. I used it a lot for detail work like grinding down holes you have welded up.
Cheers

I do, and I agree! I love my angle die grinder (just wear your foam ear plugs, or you'll hear that high pitch spinning for the next two weeksRMP&O wrote:Rob if you don't have one, a die grinder with a pad on it is real nice to have. and since I took the time to check into my thread, I might as well post an update (Slim as it is...
All the holes in the tub are welded up and ground flat, with a layer of etch primer over them - I decided I'm not going to sand the rest of the interior surfaces - I'm going to have them blasted before I do the finish work and spray the gray paint, so I've been waiting for a break in the weather that lines up with a day off so I can get the mobile blaster guy out here...it's been a wet winter this year here in cactus-land.
meanwhile, I've gone back to working on getting the outside surfaces of the tub and fenders smooth and flat.
I knew the body work on this Patrol was going to be a bear, but I must admit that I didn't think his teeth would be THIS big...
