Fortunately, sand is a zero-cost factor for me (I have a lifetime supply of 8 inch deep mortar sand out in the background of these pics) but still, screening and sifting it into buckets out in the heat is a miserable chore, as is shoveling the used sand back into the wheelbarrow and dumping it back out in the riding arena (but the paint flecks add a nice splash of color to their riding area
On the outer fenders, I chose to use my DA with a 36 grit disk, and then I'll go back and clean up the deep grooves and corners with the water blaster. That's also how I'll do the tub.
Time-wise, the water blaster is no faster than using a sanding disk, but it does handle the deeper contours a lot better.
