El Bondo Patrol got it's replacement passenger door handle this past weekend. As Riverpatrol described it, "It ain't pretty, but it works"

I actually think someone blacksmith'd this handle- It's steel, heavy, and looks a little different, but that just means it will last forever, unlike the potmetal stock pieces that snap off so easily.

and then, a piece of news about this truck that I was not expecting to share this soon after having it finished, but it found a new home much quicker than I anticipated. And, let's be 100% clear about this...: I didn't sell the Patrol, ok? L60Boerne sold it. I didn't have to take out a single ad, or pay any listing fees, or anything.

David's neighbor Anthony (AWilke here on 60patrol) reached out to me, and we were able to agree on a price, and so on Monday morning, the El Bondo Patrol was loaded onto a truck, and sent BACK to Texas...
Let's reminisce a little about the condition this truck was in the LAST time it was in Texas (September 7, 2013- the day I bought it in El Paso):

It was non-running, non driving (thank goodness, because it was WAY to dangerous to drive), bondo-encrusted junk. To be fair, it's still bondo-encrusted; it's just not "junk" anymore

It's kind of a bittersweet day for me-I like having the additional parking space back (and the lower Hagerty classic car insurance bill ); but I really WAS looking forward to getting more seat time offroad after the summer blew over, but like Grandpa always taught me: "a bird in the hand, strike when the iron's hot...blah blah blah"

So, please join me in congratulating AWilke on the purchase, and welcome him to the crazy world of Nissan Patrol ownership!

Lastly, I don't care WHO owns this Patrol for the rest of it's existence on this great blue Earth.... He who builds it, names it.

And so: It is the El Bondo Patrol, forever.
I look forward to Anthony (and David) posting more pictures, from Texas, after it arrives.... as for me, I've still got 2 more Patrols to rebuild, so I'm going to take some time off from car projects for the rest of the summer, and concentrate on another "car-related, but not a car" project.... More to come on that, later...

Congratulations I think? A bit bittersweet, another Patrol lives on.

Greetings Patrollees Worldwide,

I can verify today that Robert Moore is an expert Patrol builder. My neighbor took delivery of El Bondo today. He was very excited as I was.

The hood and doors shut like DeBeers vault. The motor and gears were smoother than Frank Sinatra on Saturday night. All the gauges work and the paint is perfect for the Patrol.

We are going to have lots of fun with it and it should be looping the Alpine heights with us Oct 1st.

I was mud and grime shamed yesterday.

Joe, Anthony's mechanic whom is now working on my Phoenix 66 Patrol mud and grime shamed me! He was digging parts out from under my 66 yesterday when he said, "You sure need to clean your under carriage so I can find the leaks. Anthony's is nicely painted and clean as a new penny".

I said sure, his was rebuilt by a real guru ! It is beautiful, yes I know.

Every time one of my Patrols gets side by side against one made by one of the forum leaders I get shamed. Oh well, have a shamed Patrol is better than having no Patrol at all.

There is no reason a Patrol cannot be used as intended.... and kept clean.

I will say that one "advantage" to a dirty undercarriage is that the grime absorbs the oil leaks before they can drip onto the driveway of garage floor
