Nessecity is the mother of invention, or something like that, right?
Too bad though....I forgot to check fluid levels in the transfer case (had a slow drip for a while) and while off roading yesterday I overloaded it, and burnt up what fluid was left in there. we were stranded for a few hours until we could wait on some trail passerbys to bring us back some gear oil to make it back to the main road. we started smelling the gear oil burnt smell again but barely made it far enough for my buddy to pick us up with his truck and trailer. So the Patrol is down for the count until I can get the TC rebuilt...maybe I can find some kind of heavy duty gear set while I'm at it.

Re: 1969 Patrol, Take 2: Action!
so with me having to rebuild my transfer case, its got me thinking.....how about some kind of custom TC gear oil cooler setup? I think the hardest part would be finding a suitable 12v pump that will pump some heavyweight gear oil (80w-90). Any ideas??

Re: 1969 Patrol, Take 2: Action!
hey all! havent been on in a while. I got a new transfer case in the Patrol and have been driving it around no problem lately. I "infiltrated" a Jeep meet at a local bar, and everyone loved it! They especially loved the LS swap, of course.

I am trying to go to LS Fest in Bowling Green and drift with my LS swapped Nissan 240sx, but if I am not able to drift, I am thinking of trailering the Patrol up there. Would be a good vehicle to display out there!
I hope everyone has been doing well!

I have also been recently thinking about doing an axle swap, along with trans/TC swap. I would like to have some more "standard" axles, and also a higher ratio, something like 3.73. However, the hard part is finding a pair of axles that have both passenger offset (basically the only options are old Jeep or Toyota), OR having to switch to center rear, and driver side front. either way, it will be a lot of work and money.
I am in the process of having a barndominium built for my new home, and want to hold off on any projects until I get moved in there anyways. it will have a 3200+ sq ft shop

It's on 5 acres, plenty of room! Also seriously thinking of making a large private paintball field for my friends and I, too!Esteban wrote:I’m moving next door!

Yitzac1990, Sorry I don't live closer. My spare Patrol's frame had been modified and uses Dana axles with front disc brakes. I have no use for them and would gradly make them available. That said, shipping from Utah would be cost prohibitive I would imagine.
