My very first car: 1971 Lemans 400: I bought it when I was 14 years old for 450 bucks that I saved up from my paper route. took me 3 years to get it running and looking like this (working in the auto shop every day after school as late as the shop teacher would let me)




1972 Blazer factory air 4 speed (the one I still miss today more than any other vehicle I've ever owned/sold I'd pay 15 grand to have this one back today ):



1968 Corvette Roaster: bought in 1994 (straight body, complete, but non-running, and wasted suspension). rebuilt (by me ), then Sold in 1996



1969 Corvette factory air 4 speed T-top: bought in 1999 (non-running and front end damage) rebuilt (by me ) then Sold in 2003




and, not a classic by any means, but one bad- mofo 4x4: my 1998 Jeep Wrangler: Heavily modified (by me ) and Sold in 2003

It was an absolute blast to drive. We did last sat. of the month drives with Triumph Travlers club members and a few local Austin Healey and Mg guys for a couple years. My 62 TR3B had syncro 1st gear while the 3A guys did not. This allowed me to grab 1st in any uphill hairpin right turn and I would burn rubber and pull ahead of the pack with ease ( I lead on coarses I chose). My Laycock De Normanville overdrive was completely rebuilt with an added feature, A taller gear in the overdrive unit from an Austin Healy (3 choices the middle one was best) that was taller than the stock TR gear. On the freeway I cruised at 76mph at 3000rpm. Stock TRs only 70. Translated I could go 80mph all day long in a 50 year old sportscar with 7 forward gears that you could drag your knuckles on the ground out the low cut doors. TR3's are a lot of fun and I have many fond memories of her. Sold around 2010 for 17.5K

my 69 Datsun 2000 that i just sold red lined at 7,000 rpms and at 3,500 rpms would cruise 85 all day long on the interstate. i miss that car.

Sierra Patrol, I had one just like it, same year, color, and Levi Pkg, just not near as nice as yours. Did yours have a 304 V8. I remember being geared so low, I did not need 1st gear around town. Top speed 45mph around what seemed like 3000rpm. I bought from my brother-n-law.

My 74 Datsun 620 I learned to drive in 1978


Then the 79 Datsun 620 KC; torsion bars cranked, Dick Cepek Minitrucker mud tires, custom paint from the body shop where I was working, and a quadraphonic 8-track tape player. For a short time, I had my home sound system speakers riding behind me (15" sub, mid, and tweeter) with my seat all the way forward leaned up. Had to take them back out so I could sit comfortably. This was long before I heard anything about the installing a subwoofer in a vehicle.


Added Bushwacker Extend-a-Fender flares, soft tonno, Frenched marker lights on the side front and rear, and a set of radial ATs that rode WAY better than the bias ply Dick Cepek mud tires ever thought about riding.


My old beat up CJ5 I bought from my brother-n-law. Had to replaced all the wheel cylinders after taking a side trip through the ditch when one failed. Bump steer that kept me guessing which way she was going after each bump in the road. And more add-a-leaf helper springs than should be allowed to be stacked. My mom made seat covers out of my old blue jeans to cover the original Levi seats that were coming apart.
And a corner of my wife's 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix (wish I had this one now).

Incredible! 3 posts almost together with one of the worst examples of small cars: Pinto, Pacer and Vega. Who's bringing the Yugo's?

I had my 72 Pinto during the 2 years that I spent in L.A. getting my Masters. The car did serve its purpose. I still feel sorry for owners of the Vega.

I think the 74 (?) Mustang was the biggest insult.....4banger crapoid.
