Which gear exactly? I'm not following. Good luck on finding NOS transfer case gears.

I'm not sure exactly as I've never seen the inside of that thing. I'm just gonna wait till he gets a look at it I guess and go from there. I was assuming that the gears would be somewhat standard gears that someone still makes but I haven't the first clue about gearing and such so I would have to defer to someone with a little more knowledge on that!!

I'm sure the guy is talking by the gear that's installed in the transfer case on the output driveshaft from the transmission. His overdrive assembly will include a similar new pinion, attached to the epicyclic gearing reduction system.

So what are the odds of finding one of those NOS?

So which one of these is he gonna need?? #9 or #18??

But I'll guess he'l need to work with the splines as well, although the gear has them as well.

He said that #9 is what he will need. My contact in Canada that is gonna take a gearbox by there should have it there by the end of the week. I am gonna wait to see if he really needs a brand new one. I have a possible lead on one in Japan but I don't wanna spend the $400 they want for it till I'm sure he really needs it. any news to share on this? if you do get this done, and install it on your Patrol, the only thing i see is making darn sure your brakes are in tip top shape and capable of bringing that 4500 lb beast to a stop in a reasonable length and time.

maybe even go so far as getting with the new guy on his disc brake conversion, as we never really got all the inside scoop on what all he used, and the outcome of how well it is working. I have asked, because disc brakes up front would be a huge plus on these.

disc brakes, and five speed, boy oh boy, i could work out of that when the roads are bad. i could sure use it today.

The weather has been really bad up thee in Canada so the guy hasn't been able to get the box over to Global yet. He said probably mid Feb unless the weather stays bad. As for the brake, I would love to do a conversion and any info would be great. My plan was/is to get it all back together and running in stock form then work on a couple mods like that. I may even get a spare axle to work with on the front disk conversion if we cannot get any more details about the other guys. So at the moment we are still waiting on the OD.
