Yeah, I messaged him as River suggested and he posted a few more for sale.

I got the rebuild kit in and I think it's wrong. The stem that comes off the diaphragm seems like it's too short and the spring is fully compressed while assembling not allowing the arm to move and actually pump.

Does anyone have a diaphragm out that could be measured?

One of the problems is that Nissan made a couple of variations of the diaphragm, switching back from one to the other over the years (probably to promote selling the whole pump rather than the diaphragm only).

I think I have one pump dismantled that I can measure the diaphragm. In the mean time, you can review some info here:

Seems the difference between the 0430 and the 0185 are the stem lengths. Unfortunately, when they superseded it's not an exact match.

I have 2 options as I see... I can send my pump to Now and Then to rebuild for about $110 and hopefully sell my rebuild kit with the shorter stem, or cut the stem on my rebuild kit and weld in a 1/2" extension while stretching the spring and hope it works.

Think I'll go with option 1.

If you have the manual primer for the pump, Option 1 will make sense. Just consider that a new pump is running around $130 at the forklift parts stores.

What length is the stem in the rebuild kit that you have?

Yeah, I like the originality of the hand primer even though I'll probably never use it.

It's 1.5"

As Justin said, several shops can rebuild them...I've had three rebuilt. Better get it done now before the knowledge and parts are gone.

I just measured mine and it's 2". I have another diaphragm with a 1.7" stem (43mm) measured from the plate that holds the rubber to the bottom of the stem.

That's how I measured as well. Thanks to everyone for the help. It's getting sent out today.

Quick question. When removing a factory fuel pump do you run the risk of any pieces falling off into the engine itself?
