I did not get lucky.....with the oil. I took your advice and cut the nongreaseable bolt between the bracket. I am surprised that a punch doesnt budge the cut bolt so I'll search for that "special" socket and frinckin' wail on it.

The socket worked to move it and got it all out with a piece of rebar.
Welding the plate and bolt shaft together worked so easy for getting the spinning grease bolt undone. I guess it can go back on like that too but I could easily nick that weld apart.

Congratulations on the progress. Years ago, the bolts on mine became loose at the plate, so I was forced to weld them in place, and it worked for many years until I replaced the shackles. If you're not in a hurry, leave it welded. We won't tell.
I have to say that Swerve's tips are the best. Time savers too. It would never had occur to me. Thanks Steve!
Now for the 67 removal, just got back from town and have the 2- 5/8 x 4 grade 8.... windy as Chicago right now but the sun is out still....

Good work Dave, I have done all this so many times, I feel sick thinking about it.
the cut bolts which are stuck in the hanger. Drill the centres out, and either drill or hacksaw or dremel it to the edge, this should relieve the pressure. Or you can hammer the F out of it but you may bend it.
Leave the shackle pin welded as the press fit should be fixed anyway.
Anyone sure of the zerks fitting size on the greasable bolts? At first thought they were sae but I swear I spec'd them to 10mm. A bit stiff on threading so dont want to just crank them in....????

I bought some a couple of years ago. Will need to check the size this afternoon. They're in a box with the label.
So I ended up using 2 of the 4 zerks fittings that were still good. I noticed it is hard to write notes when hands greased out working that is probably why good stuff gets lost..... like one thing to factor into the work load of changing springs is cleaning out the greasable rear bolts with a wire through the cross hole and the end without the fitting on. Mine were great on the 67 (and the front bolt even pulled right out) and really mucked up (Sorry Mr. Muck) on the 62....ya never know till ya go!
I had a problem that was just not making sense.....
....until I realized I hade the ubolt plate upside down and cattywampus.
And fixed....

Glad that you sorted out the problems changing the springs. Need you report after your trial run.
Tonight I checked the grease zerks that I've used in the shackles, and they're in fact 10mm, with a 1mm pitch. I never paid attention when they sold me but I've already installed two of them without a problem.
