If you have info on getting a few more horses this would be good as I have a friend with stock engine The engine that came with the 5 speed has headers so will see the difference this makes as well That engine has holley 350 on it but I believe these flood at decent angles so it will have to come off

no problem at all...happy to exchange and share info. To get more power from stock motor do the following... -switch it to electronic ignition, a kit is available for the stock dizzy. or fit a 280Z dizzy and ign...both no probs - a hot plug and high spark coil. The more spark the better. -headers and a free flow exhaust of 2.5": will rev excellent up to 4,000rpms after headers -Weber 2 barrel carb, the 32-35 works well, just takes an adaptor plate and some throttle linkage work, all is easy -when upgrading the carb use the tallest adaptor plate you can. The plate will adapt a different base to the stock manifold. Simply piece of machine aluminum do the trick. the taller the adaptor the more throttle chamber thus the more power. if you got a body lift you can go up to 4" or more in the adaptor hieght. -Upgrade the air filter to K&N or a Uni-Filter. The more air and the colder the air the better. To make it colder a hood scope comes into play. -Bore it out to the max, this is 1.00 over but even .300 over is good. Try to increase compression slightly from stock 7.1 to 8.1 using custom rings or better rings than stock. Higher compression means more power and the stock motor can handle it if lubed well and cared for right. -Fuel injection from a 280Z: may not increase power a lot but will increase performance a lot. Not a hard mod if you are mechnically inclined. -the stock radiator is good enough for keeping the motor cool. It is oversized really. But changing the fan out to a P40 fan will help make sure it runs cool. P40 fan has more blades and is a better shape. If you really want to treat it right upgrade the rad to a nice aluminum one. With all the above mods you will want to watch the water temp. Few probs with the stock motor are... -oil pick up at extreme angles: no solution yet -carb lacking fuel on extreme angles: Weber proven excellent and never failed me room for carb adptions and tall adptor plates due to hood/bonnet height: body lift cures this Since the stock P engine is at 125-145hp depending on year and emmisions junk getting 75-55 more hp out of it is not very difficult. It just needs alittle coaxing IMHO. I have driven modded P engines and like I say it can suprise you with what it will put out.

confirming that the locker is an arb RD 71 If you do this mod the thrust piece has to be 5mm longer than the original one on the long axle side and you need to slice off 4.5 mm off the short axle as the spider gear centre is not in the same spot in relation to the old one ie its closer to the short axle side If this is confusing let me know and I'll reword it ( I know what I mean, Why dont you? ) RobAttachment: 109_0904.JPG sm.jpg
