Every rear I have ever seen the slip yoke is at the t-case which means the rear driveline is also a pole vault. I honestly don't think Nissan gave it that much thought, regarding the pole vault. With the slip yoke at the t-case on the front, at full droop you run the risk of the driveline rubbing on the #2 crossmember.
Oh and on my 2000 Land Cruiser, the slip yoke on the rear driveline is at the diff and on the front it is also at the diff making the front a pole vault too. On my 83 Patrol slip yoke for front driveline is at the t-case, rear at the t-case too making it a pole vault. Or say previous trucks like my 84 Land Cruiser, front is slip yoke at diff making it a pole vault and rear is at the t-case too. 91 Land Cruiser slip yoke on front at t-case and rear also at the t-case making it a pole vault too. So really, forgot about the pole vault factor, it seems to not matter.
I am going by what I have seen on every single Patrol I have had my hands on which is dozens of them. I don't care who is right or wrong, I am saying what I have seen and know, this we call first hand experience. I also am very sure there are many more out there just like all the dozens of them I have had my hands on. Right now there is 8 Patrols at my place and all of them are the same.
Cheers
