With your direction, plus the excellent threads herein Rene pulled the distributor and found it was one tooth off. When he reset the distributor everything lined up...no need to enlarge the adjustment slot.

He rebuilt a VZ 42 from the parts of four I had in stock plus the rebuild kit from Australia. It turned out the really critical parts from the Australian kit did not fit but most did.

I have several fuel pump rebuild kits too. Rene was going to rebuild my fuel pump...that was rebuilt last year by Eddy but I just decided to order a new fork lift fuel pump. Interestingly the fuel pump rebuild kits I have, all purchased as Nissan Patrol fuel pump rebuild kits.....say Toyota on them. Maybe they work...maybe they don't.

I took some pictures I will try to resize as per River Patrol's email them to myself advice.

Now it runs fabulous!

Greetings Patrollers Worldwide,

As usual, I am in need. Phoenix Patrol has turned out great in every way EXCEPT the doors. I have re-read the help already provided in this thread. Plus I've had each of my mechanics try to fix them. I can say the passenger side has become acceptable. So now I am focusing on the driver's door.

First..River Patrol found that according to my serial # it is a 65-66 model. The door handle arrangement is clearly post 65. I have all replacement parts for the star assembly and door jam notches for the 65. Will the 65 parts be useful with the post 65 door handle arrangement? I might even have a 66 year star assembly from a 66 that I think I bought from 50Car but I need to go back and check that.

On two occasions both Eddy the Eagle and Nick have had the doors shutting like a vault but after a few uses the driver's sides goes back to a half catch condition.....then if you slam is really really hard it might close all the way...maybe.

Where should Ready the Wrench Rene look first?

The door latches on the '66 & '67 were notorious for this. Your early parts are not compatible with the '66, start digging and see if you can find the one you got from 50car. I think Esteban has extensive experience in this realm on his own Patrol, I'm sure he can offer some pointers.

Sorry to be of no help on this one, David. Mine, being a canvas top model, came with different latches and no locking feature. They are more crude in design but easy to fix.

Well this is disappointing news. Do you have pictures of your latches? I'm interested in the difference.

As for David's dilemma all I can suggest is adjusting the latches and the doors as best as possible.

Thought I am far from an informed observer it is a bit amazing that the frame didn't change and the doors worked in 65 but went bonkers in 66-67? I don't think mine has a lock but I will look on Sunday. I can say the 63 & 65 doors shut perfectly.

Again I have three perfectly running Patrols, 63, 65 and 66. I wish I had two 63s for my daily purposes. The torque is much different in the 63. But, if I was a highway driver I'd surely prefer the 66.

I'm up in gold and silver mining country in Colorado. However, that isn't the most valuable natural material up here today.....it is rubber! I plead with the 60Patrol forum Nissan Ninjas .....please direct me to where I can purchase a couple of spare tire bumpers! The one located near the spare tire latch. The rattling on these roads is driving me insane.

I see lots of rubber bumpers on ebay or Amazon but none seem right.

Otherwise, life is great with the 65 other fixes you have sent my way.

This time I am seeking a throttle linkage spring for Phoenix Patrol which sports and OEM VZ 42 carburetor. If anyone has a spring reference it sure would be appreciated.
