Greetings Patrollees and Patrol Whispers,

I took CCV5 out to the roughest mountain trails I know of in the Hill Country. I am convinced there is sufficient torque to climb anything your tires can find a grip on.

These are brutal trails. My loving wife and neighbors went along. She is never going back.

The following pictures are at the base of the West Prong of the Nueces. Judge Roy Bean territory. I stopped taking videos of the climbs as the video just doesn't depict reality. We are climbing hill faces that few rigs would even dare.

The good news is that CCV5 did fine, but whew do they ride rough with all the shifting. Hey the easy way is the tow
vehicle. Sometimes it is much more fun to do it the hard way.

On an unrelated note, if you are ever in Uvalde, TX you must stop for the pepper steak at Jack's Steak House. No words do it justice.

However, midway through the field test it stopped holding an idle and had a tinge of backfiring. I have Hitachi VZ 42 at it was running perfect prior to the field test.

I sure would like suggestions before turn it over to the brain trust around here.

Patrolling to paradise,
L6OBoerne

PS- I'm sure these will not appear in the intended sequence, thus my middle of the post mention of Jack's

Did you "air down" those big tires? Might help the ride.

I did think about that and I did have an air compressor on board but I'm still not sure about the rims. I will try it next time.

That would help for sure.

Thanks for your advice.

Greetings,

I picked CCV6 (aka Green Machine) this evening from Eddy the Eagle. The lost idea was a result of a fully clogged fuel filter with rust gunk from the fuel tank which of course was completely refurbished last year. The sludge looked like a metallic brown paint. The next trip to his shop will include adding a second fuel filter so I can switch filters on the trail rather than replace. Cheap insurance.

Now the really cool news is that when I finally stencil in the nameplate it will be CCV6C for Command and Control Vehicle 6 Cyclops. The new flush mounted/recessed LED light in the front bumper is AWESOME!

Picture tomorrow, I couldn't get my phone flash to operate.

Double clutching to the clouds,

Greetings,

We took CCV6C on our longest drive to date. Knowing that the only real issue is rust in the tank I will keep a few fuel filters on hand.

To those rebuilding their mosheens at this time....keep the faith..it is worth the pain!

We first stopped at our favorite little waterfall then drove it back into the nearest town for dinner. The cyclops turned an otherwise dimly lit drive home into a safe skip with the added light of a solar flair.

Double clutchin again,
