Please do not cut. The cost of reverting back to original is very expensive. (On the other hand, cut away. It will only make the uncut Patrols worth more!)

it´s been almost 2 months in the dilemma... i been working in another details (bumpers, carb etc) but now it´s time to make a decision....
the only thing i want to cut from the patrol are the oil leaks.... but i dont want to cut anything more....
the shackle hanger lift, i´ve seen a couple of it here in my town very nicely done and could be the last option

There is no need to cut the fenders for 33" tires. Thing is I feel 10.5" wide is the max. The key here folks to fitting 33" rubber is simply to keep them narrow. Backspacing is everything. Backspacing on a stock wheel is 4" or 4.25", don't recall exactly and would need to measure again to say exactly. I have got some pics I will post soon of a 7.50x16 next to a 33x10.5. The 7.50 is a 31" tire but is super skinny. Plenty of room though to go with a bit more back spacing and get the 33x10.5 tire in the wheel well with no mods other than possibly non-stock wheels. In general, 7" wide rims are about as narrow as you can go with a 10.5" wide tire. But I think down to 6" wide will work, finding a shop to mount them is another story. If you tubed them, chances are even better they will work on that narrow of a wheel.

Also, suspension should be cycled to the max when fitting larger tires. In particular compression. If the tire wants to hit the top of the wheel well, simply lower the bump stops. To do that though requires a simple but custom made bracket. On my 68, I will be running about a 2.5" lift and the 33x10.5" tires. I plan to keep sway bars and limiting rods but these will get extended to suit lift. I will also drop bump stops if needed to limit up travel and any rubbing. The other thing is I might lose a bit of turning radius as I don't want the tires scrubbing on the front leaf springs at full lock. I am ok though with that and simply adjusting the steering stops until I am good to go. I will be running an aftermarket wheel too, just don't like the split rims and don't want to run them plus may not be able to with the 33x10.5. Used to be able to get a 33x9 tire which is about perfect but those are no longer made. In my honest opinion, a 12.5" wide tire is to wide and won't work in the rear without trimming.

These are 34x10.5 with 4" back spaced 16x7 rims. 9.5's would fit just fine.

Ah ya, I forgot about Swampers. They still make the good sizes. Bit to aggressive for me though and what I am after. Had 34x9.5's on my Pinzgauer in Boggers so a bit familiar with them. I had been thinking of BFG A/T's in a 33x9 and the old BFG M/T in same size when I posted.

What about 8.25 r16... this things are HUGE, 855 mm OD, it´s about 33 3/4". Some one offer me to barter the 33x12.5 that i already have for the 8.25 R16, Reading about in some forums and some charts this tire will be close to a 34 x 9.5., so what do you think?

The one in the pic is the Michelin XZL, the ones that are offering me are NOT michelins , i think they will be Linglongs or some chinese brand

8.25x16 is a great size. It boils down to this, 8.25x2 = 16.5 + 16" = 32.5. It will fit no problem at all. Just to clarify, these old school tire size go like this; 8.25" is the tread width as well as the sidewall height. So you take the sidewall and x's it by two since that is what you have and then add the 16" wheel.

Well i didnt even know the xzl was available in that size.......though the sizing on the side of the tire appears to read 9.00xR16..... which would indeed be a 34x9R16.......

now where can i get myself a set of those??

(Michelins are hard to get in aus, and very exy. In fact i have only ever seen one set locally- and that was on a factory landrover)
