Regarding the axle shims, you might not need them, since due to internal wear of the axles (they touch inside the pumpkin) what you have to do is actually take shims out to compensate the wear.

Update on Green Machine, upon renovation will be Command & Control Vehicle 5 (CCV5)

Resources
Forum - RiverPatrol, 2896ral and many others that provide excellent direction and parts
Greg Page - 4WD Australia - seals and bushings, distributor cap and many parts i've never heard of
Anpira83 - Ebay Seller from Colombia - rubber trim for windows
Alcan - Leaf Springs
2896 - Shackles, side steps, rear step with receiver, plus any parts he has...like a badly needed 63 passenger door handle & interior vent guards!
Kellogg - Rebuild of Water Pump
Forklift Parts Supply (www.forkliftsupply.com) fuel and oil pump

Rafael is making progress:

Suspension
The Alcan springs have arrived. They were formed with a 1" lift.
2869Ral is finishing up extra Beefy Shackles adding 2 more inches of lift
New shocks & front absorber
Sway Bar bushings replaced
Sandblasting everything, 50 years of salt roads would have killed any other vehicle, Green Machine was on life support

Brakes
100% rebuild - Wheel cylinders and from 4WD in Australia
woven SS lines

Gears & Seals
No gears expected to be needed, ordered complete replacement seal scope from 4WD

Carburetor
Not sure what to do, Hitachi VC42 works fine but while rebuilding I want to install a carb that can be tuned anywhere, maybe more air..suggestions?

Tires & Wheels
BFG Mud Terrains, 31.7" diameter in OEM 16" rims with fresh black paint

Bling
Chromed grill and interior dash vent guards

I'll try to post more pics but not much to see yet.

The VC42 can be tuned anywhere. There are only 2 adjustment screws; one for idle speed and one for air mixture. I don't recall ever hearing of anyone needing to change jets (like the Rochester B commonly needs) on this carb.

Changing jets will be needed if you normally live in high altitude locations, like Denver or others, for a better fuel mixture according to the lack of oxygen that you have at higher altitudes. But as RiverPatrol mentions, you seldom do this and dialing this carb is extremely simple and straightforward.

The beauty of this carb is that it allows you to change the main jet on the outside. It will take you a couple of minutes to do so, in case needed.

Thank you Esteban, You have saved me money and settled my fears. This settles the carb issue.

What interior vent guards do you need? Windshield vent guards, or fender vent guards, or both? :D

Just an update to say Greg at 4WD in Australia is very helpful and I am buying everything that fits my 63 that can't be found here, which includes transfer case & transmission rebuild kit, clutch rebuild, brake cylinders and front absorber and some other parts. If anyone wants a list I can send it to them. I will receive the invoice in about 24 hours.

Greg is extremely helpful. If it's not listed on ebay, it doesn't mean they don't have it. I've asked for a few things and he has been able to come up with most of it.
