60Patrol

Doing a little clean up on the rear doors. I want to avoid bondo/filler if I can. Edgar will have bumps and bruises but the rust will be mitigated and hopefully he will look better.

For those times I cannot get to the back side to hammer and dolly the dents out, I want a dent puller like this.

Would someone be able to tell me if these 16" wheels are original to the '67 Patrol? They have the tabs on them to hold hubcaps. I took them off the vehicle last night which was a bit of a chore as they haven't been off the vehicle since 1979.

No. They look like maybe Chevy.

Well, that maybe what I will have to go with, as the vehicle already has four of them. As the wheels are off, what are the first steps in removing the brake drums?

RP is correct- those are Chevy truck wheels.

You say they are 16 inch diameter? Can you tell me how wide they are?

51-54 Chevy trucks had a 16x5 inch wheel that is essentially the same size and offset as the original 16 inch patrol wheels. If that's what you have there, then fitting Patrol-sized tires onto them should be a snap.

The first step to removing the drums is to adjust the brake shoes, backing them off all the way. Then, a small pry bar - but don't pry against the backing plate, it will just bend - a big hammer or mallet, and some WD40 or other break free type lube. Hit outward on the outer edge of the drum, turn the wheel a little, hit and pry, turn the wheel a little hit and pry, repeat a bazillion times until the drum drops on your foot.The rears are a little easier because you can pry from the center of the drum over the axle shaft, fronts are not as easy.

Well that's the best of the "2nd best" options for wheels, IMHO- They will take the exact same tire sizes as a 16 inch OEM Patrol wheel; so when a set of Patrol wheels falls into your lap someday, you wouldn't have to re-purchase tires

The Chevy wheels don’t look bad. IMHO, they look better than white spoke or 1980s mag wheels on a Patrol
