Congratulations on all that you've done. I'm sure everyone here is following your trip and eagerly waiting for the next installment. You definitely have a special way of conveying your journey, even your mishaps.

The Patrol looks fantastic!

And I'm sure this wedding that you run into, will last at least as long as your Patrol, or any Patrol for that matter.

I went to my honeymoon in my Patrol, and my youngest daughter got married in it. The images today of the wedding, just look surreal.

That looks like Uncompahgre Peak. About 14,309. Named after the local Ute Indian tribe. Did you scale that today?

Thanks to all, you all know this Patrol, as well as Presidio Patrol, are products of this forum. Finally my wife is getting more confident as I demonstrate how the gears can be used to limit dangerous situations. I'm not daredevil.

Unit 65 is absolutely in our future. Thank you for the encouragement. However, I got a really bad case of frostbite hunting bears up around the arctic circle a few years ago and the cold isn't as much fun as it used to be but I'm game. I just need to get passed Zim 2019, very warm there, then I'll refocus on NA, that is my plan. I look forward to alot of good times around here.

Most excellent! So proud that you have persevered and attained your goal. I know the Patrol is completely capable of anything you decide to put it through. I have personal experience on treacherous trials finessing the gears and potential stalling. You just prepare for it and deal with it. The remote throttle comes in very handy in some of those situations. Excellent pictures, it looks like a great trip. Thank you for sharing.

Just a note to say our hunting party just travelled 200 miles by Polaris Ranger on the O6 Ranch. The 06 is one of the most historic TX ranches. It was founded before TX was a state, then it was a country.

It runs from Alpine to Ft. Davis in likely some of the most scenic mountains in Texas.

The ranch roads climbed mountain switchbacks that made me want to be looking up at a lizard's lower lip.

Once above the cap rock we had to scale down the shear cliffs to cull the feral Aoudads overgrazing their ranch. Google Davis Mtns. They live in the cliffs... so your don't get to use plural adjatives as just one misstep leads to just one outcome.

We hope to see the other half of the ranch next year.

Patrolling in a Polaris this week,

Very cool, sounds like another awesome trip. Had a Polaris Ranger myself. Don't know that I ever put that kind of mileage on it at one go, but certainly could have.

My white 63 Patrol requires one last fix. I'm seeking another round of sharp advice before I turn it over to Eddy the Eagle.

The problem is that I can turn the steering wheel 4-5 inches before the tires move. Or when no turn is required the wheels kinda take a course of their own choosing.

Where should I direct Eddy to look first?

Take a look at the diagram below. Since you have a lot of play, I will check them in the order marked:

1) Drag Link Terminals
The Plug-Ends #8 can be adjusted. Please note that you might want to check the condition of the springs #7. On one occasion a spring broke on mine and caused a lot of free play.
The Stud-Ball #11 can be rotated 90° if it shows some wear, so the matting surface will be new again.

2) Adjust the free play at the steering box. Very simple and straight forward. Don't overdo since it will be difficult to move the steering wheel.

3) Check the condition of the tie-rod ends. These can be adjusted following the procedure in this thread:
