Please keep us posted when you do the disc brake conversion. Very few have ever been done here, and none have been documented so that someone else could follow the procedure.

Disc Brakes!!!
Doing some internet resarch around patrol pages (Especially Patrol Colombia and Patrol Venezuela in FB) i decided to go ahead with the Disc brakes Conversion. Some options are changing the Hubs and use another hubs from some Patrol Y60 or similar. I didn't have that option so i decided to make the Disc Conversion using the original Hub.
As you can imagine here in my country the most common replace parts available are Toyota so Dont´t tell anyone but now my Patrol is using Toyota brakes

Using this information i start looking for the parts i needed: Rotors and Calipers but before that i take apart the rusty plate from the patrol to take a look and have an idea of the parts i needed. Make some measurements of the hub where the slugs are located. 170mm of diam, the only disc available was the rears Toyota Land Cruiser Prado whith 317 mm OD and 172 mm ID, so the hub can fit in.



For the calipers i decided for the S12+8 Toyota calipers, because of the small Size and the original use (TLCs, Four Runners and Hilux), so i get a pair of it and get the kit to rebuil it by myself. This Page helps a lot..

Next step, make a template to fabricate the adapter, this piece goes where the brake plate was located with six 3/8" bolts, this piece was made of 3/8" plate and 5/8", this is very particular and it was made for this rotor and this caliper, i guess if you get another type of rotor or caliper it will be some difference in the piece. so after a lot of rehearsal i finish the piece.
Note: The OD of the rotor was too big so i take it to the lathe and go down until 292mm, (you can notice in the pictures) because if i didn´t do that i could need a 17" wheel, as i say before, a lot of rehearsal to get the final template.









More rehearsal and i discover the wheel will touch the caliper, so i fabricate my own wheel spacers 1" thick








And that´s it, sorry about the lot of images, but i feel my english it´s getting funny some times

Hi again everybody.... it's alive!!! It's alive!!! Last weekend took the patrol to a ride, wow... that was amazing, first time in 5 years... everything was ok, maybe 40 kms of gravel road and finally the patrol is back on the roads
