That's some great progress. Nice match with the blue paint. I think that's a good idea with the fuel tanks.

Thanks RP. The blue is actually how the steel comes when you buy it. I've noticed a lot of the steel you Americans buy for fab come raw but over here (in my neck of the woods anyway) it comes painted to keep the surface rust at bay.

It was good having some Patrol time again.

35's look great on a G60 , maybe a GQ coil spring rear end might go well whilst you have the welder out + it would match the fuel tank

Yeah sure do! I put these alloys on my '72 a while ago and hated the look but for some reason HP can pull it off. Same was when Swerve had his GU alloys on it. Maybe it's the colour being a little more "modern"? Who knows.

Well whilst I'm at it I'll just go coils all round then

GQ tanks cleaned, painted and mounted in the rear.

Tank looks like a factory fit , ive been looking at fitting a GQ tank to my mwb but would need to do a big body lift. Make sure you check the sender unit before you finish fitting the tray- ive had 3 GQ's and they have been faulty in all of them. A full coil G60 would be really cool , they look like they would go close to fitting on a GQ SWB chassis, has anyone ever checked

The springs on it right now are +2", yes ? The 35's look tough.

Hey Robert, I missed this the first time round I'm sorry. I think its got 2" springs and the front shackles are slightly longer than standard.

Cheers, Im really happy with it although I need paint the chassis to match now! She was working before I removed it so fingers crossed its still ok.

I might have missed it, but whats your plans for the old swiss cheese style tub??

I had my set of 35s under grip, my original project patrol. 60s just seem to be made for them, the proportions are "right". Its just guard clearance that isnt.
Had more than one friend of mine comment to me that it looked like sex on wheels.......that description is probably not too far off.

both 33's or 35's I reckon are just about mandatory on any modified patrol, esp the utes......

While you have access, you need to move the rear square cross member rearwards 1-2" so the diff doesn't touch it. Also weld the hole in the diff up !!!!

Besides that looks good, so need to get my 60 out sometime in the near future

Cheers Steve, that's Friday's plan. I have mate coming over Saturday with his sandblasted trailer to blast the rear end. Plan is to weld diff once blasted

Big morning. A mate came over with his sand blasting rig and we cleaned up the underside of HP. Shit it was hot, and even hotter with the helmet on! I'm so stoked with how it came up. Looks brand new! She's all primered ready for a few coats of chassis black.

Chassis looks really good. It must be the time of year for paint removal, I was paint stripping my front guards in the heat today
