I am thinking about going that route when it is time to paint my red patrol-

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the link! I have never even heard of this process before I ran into this guy.

The roof is going to be repaired then primed before going into storage.

I apologize for flaking out but I had to put the window rubber idea on the back burner since I am no longer using the roof (for now), Christmas debt and a nicer letter I received from the Franchise State Tax Board.
(When it rains it pours!)

Thanks again for the link,
Kris

New pictures

I took another day off and did a little more.

I honed the wheel cylinders then rebuilt/reassembled them. Got 'em mounted and ready. I still need to retap the master cylinder where the sensor mounts. The tap kit I bought did not include the correct tap so I have to wait. Hopefully, I will have brakes soon.

I had a couple hours of light left so I started working on body parts. I removed the old body filler and replaced with the correct crappy stuff. Relax, it's good enough. I then started taking things off and redoing 'em. (dash panels, grab bar, vent shrouds, wiper motors and a couple other small items)
I removed old filler on some and pressed/bent others back into shape before sanding and priming.

See pics. More to come since I am off Wednesday!

lol...

That hand is a huge cardboard advertisement that someone stuck in my office at work. If you notice, the pinky is cut off. It was a joke by a co-worker. He thought it was funny since I had my right pinky cut off about 20 years ago :)

I collect anything weird so it actually fits right in my garage.

enjoy the rest of the year,
Kris

Did you do the modification of the tub to remove the section directly behind the seat and notch the front of the wheel wells to allow the seats to slide further back or was this modification accomplished by others?
Here is a picture of an unmodified tub showing the front of the tub.....

Thanks for the photo Jeff.

I bought her the way she is and was told by Leslie that it had been modified to allow the driver more space. Once she pointed it out I could see that it wasn't stock. I am new to these and didn't know it was modified.
I am a standard size human and dont need the extra room but prefer the way it is now. I am trying to clean it up and modify it for transporting my dogs and possibly a cycle or 2 if I can come up with a retractable extension for the bed. I dont want to do any modifications that cannot be reversed to stock.
Thanks again for the photo. I can see the difference now.

unfortunately, I don't think that many of us are "standard sized" compared to what the engineers designed to back in the day... I have to squeeze myself into my stock seats... seems there is a shortage of air gap between the seat and the steering wheel....
My stock seats when fully pushed back against the stops allows me just enough room to get in...
Building a folding rack shouldn't be that difficult.... may even be able to find one that could be installed into a receiver hitch and then taken back off when not needed...

Here is the receiver hitch on one of mine that I have made lowing brackets for the step.... If you don't have the step, then it shouldn't be an issue

Jeff, I just realized that I am sub-standard size :) because there is plenty of room. The only issue I have is that when I get out of the seat I feel like a feminine inmate after his first day in prison. There is something inside my seat that is jamming a spring so it wont collapse. My butt hurts real bad after exiting the vehicle.

I like your ideas about the bed extension. I am leaning toward your way of thinking.
thanks for the photo.

Me again...

I had some spare time on Wednesday and worked on some more of the previous repairs that were done on the vehicle. I removed the old filler and refilled properly. I sanded down to 600 and am ready to prime. I will wait until I am finished with all the filling and sanding before I load a gun with primer. No sense in masking the beast twice.

I did do a sample test to see how the paint would come out since I have never sprayed oil-based paint. Yes, oil based paint. I used Rustoleum/Almond. Its a great color but not for the interior of a rugged vehicle. Maybe a early 50's Jag?

I have heard that it works great and it is super cheap. I used a 2:1 with thinner and got good results. I went over it an hour later with another coat of 2:1.5 and it looks brilliant. No wet sanding necessary. The picture shows orange peel. It is not. It is a reflection.
The only question I have is how it will stand up compared to automotive paint?

This was only a test. If it had been an actual spraying you would have been notified by a series of posts, prior. I repeat, this was only a test. You may now continue with your regular post viewing.
