Unfortunately the shaft where the overdrive will be installed is shared by the transmission and transfer case. It's the output shaft from the transmission.

I'd be willing to contribute to splitting
Shipping costs if someone comes
Up with necessary parts to get to
global. I'm definitely interested. Otherwise I've been thinking on other nissan engines to swap in for better speeds etc.

Right, I understand that - My question was really angled more toward exactly what parts need to be shipped to them...? I know they need a Transfer gear case so they can fit the mounting bolt pattern for their OD unit, and they need a combo shaft in order to design their coupling sprag.... But do they need an entire functional transmission as well? A full transmission almost doubles the weight (and the shipping costs)

I have an extra, operational transfer case lying around just taking up space, and it has what's left of an incomplete (and inoperable) transmission bolted to it. If I separated the two, and send them the whole Tcase, along with the transmission output shaft slid into it, I'm wondering if that would be enough for them to do their design evaluation...?

If this would fit their needs, then all that would be left would be an hour with the pressure washer on this TCase, and then crate it up, and start gathering donations for the shipping costs... Oh, and we would need to gather enough shipping donations to cover two-way shipping, because I would want this transfer case back when they were done with it... :ugeek:

Ok guys I was keeping this under wraps until it developed a little more but seeing as how there is some more interest now, There is a certain member who has committed to hauling a trans/xfer case up to Global in the next month or so. Now that being said, there was someone else who made this claim (not a member of this forum) who fell way short and just started ignoring my messages. So with that, once I have truly secured a unit that has been supplied to Global then I will update you guys n gals on what the progress is. But if there is someone who would like to ship one or the required pieces up then I would be totally happy with that as well.

My only concern with sending just the xfer case and the shaft from the trans is alignment in such. Its been awhile since I've had mine apart in pieces in my had so I don't exactly recall if it would be held in place properly without the trans being there. Maybe Ron would know or be able to try and mock up the idea without the entire trans to see if it would work out.

Cool, thanks Justin- I'm just gonna chill out and let this Tcase keep gathering dust, then.... :handgestures-thumbup:

message me up if you ever need to loop back with me on my offer...

Very cool. We have 2 Patrols that would both likely be in for any sort of group buy you guys work out for a potential better deal. Keep me in the loop.

Im sure they will need at least the tranny case with a stripped down output and the output bearing. That output shaft is held centered by the rear tranny case and that bearing. They will probably need all the gear ratios which i think can be found in the service manuals. I have 2-3 extra transmission cases, if it helps i can cut off the rear portion of the tranny case that bolts to the t-case. This way it could be bolted up to the t-case so it will hold an output shaft centered for their mock up. Let me know. Also i would love to get in this buy for an overdrive, but i dont think i can swing the expense at this time, but i would definitely be willing to pitch in some cash for the shipping expense to get this going. :D

Thanks for the offer Ron but as of right now I think we might have it under control with someone toting a setup up there in the near future. If that doesn't happen again this time then I will start exploring the other route of shipping one up.
