Re: 65 hardtop
I found a thermostat in a parts box . It's got 195 stamped in it. I'm wondering if I can throw it in or if I should get a 180.

Re: 65 hardtop
What part number of thermostat do people use . I called Nissan and the part number I have is obsolete.
I noticed that there is a rubber hose from the valve cover going to the intake of the air cleaner. It looks like someone has jimmy rigged it. Could it be to preheat the air more going to the carb? Seems kind of hack I'd like to get rid of it. It's a shame someone ruined a valve cover and a air cleanr

Re: 65 hardtop
The thermostat that I'm using is:
STANT # 45358
54mm in diam.
180 F / 82 C
Regarding the valve cover vent, most USA Patrols have it from the factory. Maybe RiverPatrol can give us what year they started to come with it, and whether yours is rigged or original.

Re: 65 hardtop
It seems that around '65 is when the switch was made from having the pipe vent on the engine to the valve cover to air cleaner type.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Re: 65 hardtop
Yours isn't a factory setup. The locations for the connections on the valve cover and the air cleaner are different. It shouldn't be too hard to locate an air cleaner top and a valve cover. If your engine doesn't have the pipe vent, located at the rear of the engine opposite the starter, you should get the ones with the nipples for the vent hose.

Re: 65 hardtop
Hmmm. I wonder what it's there for then as I've got the engine vent snorkel in the back of my engine compartment. I also noticed this which I have no idea what it's for.
Anyone have any idea why the mount would have a notch out of it like that?

Re: 65 hardtop
notches and cutouts i always just go look at the other side of the rig in the same place and see if there is a corresponding hole with something ran through it, so therefore its a hole for the rhd model. if not then its for an accessory or maintenance application whether original or po placed.

Re: 65 hardtop
It's only on the one side. I can't for the life of me figure what it's for. I had the truck runnin last night and got the pto winch working. The pto unit is a Nissan factory install I believe as it mounts on the side of the transmission and there is a instruction plate for the lever by the gear shift.
I noticed the water pump squealing and found the pulley the have a lot of free play from side to side. Mine is the original pump as it still has the zero fitting. Am I able to get a rebuild kit for the pump?

You can get rebuild parts, including a new shaft, from Kellogg Automotive (http://www.kelloggautomotive.com) in Arizona. Will can also do the rebuild. I sent mine out to him to do a rebuild and it arrives back here tomorrow. See my thread here: http://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4126.
