Re: Green Machine Rebuild Starts 5-9-16 - Patrollee Help Nee
I ordered a Wilwood 260-8794 this weekend (some suppliers still have them in stock), so I'll see what is in that one. If only the rear port has a valve, I'll have to see if Wilwood sells these as replacement parts so I can install one in the front port.

I hope that the particular one that was placed on Pinto has both internal residual pressure valves installed and did not arrive like both mine with only one.RiverPatrol wrote:The Wilwood 260-8794 was used on Pinto Patrol which is still using original drum brakes. No external proportioning valve was needed, I don't know if they did anything with the internal valve/s. Good that you clarified with Wilwood.

Well since he just drove it 12,000 feet up the Rockies without any issues I think it's safe to say whatever is there works fine.jwgreen wrote:I hope that the particular one that was placed on Pinto has both internal residual pressure valves installed and did not arrive like both mine with only one.RiverPatrol wrote:The Wilwood 260-8794 was used on Pinto Patrol which is still using original drum brakes. Well, it turned out that the supplier that I ordered the Wilwood 260-8794 m/c from really didn't have them in stock. So I called Wilwood, and as they told jwgreen, the 260-8794 has been replaced by the 260-7563. I asked what were the differences in the m/c itself between the -8794 and the -7563, and was told NONE. Also asked about the residual check valves in the -7563, and was told that it would come with residual checks in both the front and rear ports. Also asked about the pressure rating of these residual checks, and was told they were 10 psi. The tech guy cautioned me that this m/c as delivered was for drum brakes all around, and I told him that is what I'm using it on.r1lark wrote:I ordered a Wilwood 260-8794 this weekend (some suppliers still have them in stock), so I'll see what is in that one. So, I've ordered a 260-7563 from Amazon (cheapest price I could find, plus free shipping) and it will be here early next week. More to follow.............

Re: Green Machine Rebuild Starts 5-9-16 - Patrollee Help Nee
Greetings to all those with disk brake envy,
Justin Green arrived Thursday evening and after a long night of catching up on thoroughly enjoyable Patrol talk we decided to call it a night and drive over to Eddie the Eagle's mechanic's lair for an 8 am start on Justin's approach to a front disk brake upgrade. I can't add a play by play as I had to go back to my office and catch up on some work. However, I can download the following.
Justin arrived with everything needed plus back up for several parts, like the master cylinder, he thought might be needed. He had several parts custom made and some stock parts from GM. After this first set up his approach is ready for the lime light it deserves.
In short everything went together fine and it looks great!
Here are the important things those considering this upgrade must consider.
A). If you have OEM rims, then the new calipers will not allow them to be used. So, I had to order four 16" "smoothie" rims (part # WVI-12-660604) from Summit Racing as per Rob Moore's advice and Eddie's measurement for fitment.
B). The Brake Master Cylinder changed at some point during the 1960s. This 63 Patrol has the early mechanical version while later ones are hydraulic. Justin put a lot of effort into making an adapter for the Wilwood MC that we both wanted to use but it could not be fitted. Luckily he had a second more conventional looking Wilwood MC which was able to fit.
C). Eddie is studying the prospect of adding disks to the rear axle as well.
Once Eddie is able get the "smoothies" painted and mounted we will be able to field test the whole set up. If all works it will be in the Lake City Fourth of July Parade in several weeks.
Thank you to Justin, Eddie and Rob Moore.

Just make sure and double check that the is a residual pressure valve is there in both outlets. I have ordered 2 of these and they both only have one valve in the rear outlet.r1lark wrote:Well, it turned out that the supplier that I ordered the Wilwood 260-8794 m/c from really didn't have them in stock. Yes, there is a residual pressure valve in both the front and rear ports of the Wilwood 260-7563 that I received:jwgreen wrote: Just make sure and double check that the is a residual pressure valve is there in both outlets.
