Greetings Patrollees Worldwide,
Just a note this Patrol remains strong. I’m so sad I did take pictures of it lifting my two spare axles given to me from Plateaucal. Rube Goldberg has nothing on me.

If you have a winch, get a soft snatch block, it gives you directional winching options.

Here we hit the high country after the work was done.

Patrolling in paradise,

Patrollees Worldwide,

Like most of you I have tried to decide which is best, electric winch or PTO winch. Since I several of both and find myself in need of them more and more I have decided I like the PTO better. Each have pros and cons but if you are going to do "work" with your winch then the PTO is hands down better. Like an electric winch it will also pull you out of the mud so it is double duty. The electric winch is really best for unsticking stuck things....and slowly as they need to cool off between pulls.

So, if anyone has a spare vintage PTO for Pinto Patrol, I'm in the market. Nothing looks cooler or can work as hard as a good PTO winch. Additionally, their utility is also expanded via the general design of the Patrol. The Patrol's huge brass radiator keeps the motor cool while you are rigging up your project and you should have seen the rigging I used to pull the spare axles Plateaucal gifted me laterally across the barn floor, which is gravel, then vertically so I could back the trailer under them.

PTO winching in a pinch,
