I was thinking 'tight' myself. Also wondering how I might adapt a similar mounting plate on my Ute.

Well I drove my 78 Ute "HP" tonight. She has been in storage the last year and was started about 8 months. If you are leaving your 60 for a while disconnect the plastic connector of the back of the igniton switch (70 models). This prevents any drains through, well it works for me. Had to crank her for ages to pump fuel around on a 8 month non charged battery and she started, She has a huge dust layer on the paint and will empty her this weekend as plan to mount my engine hoist on the bed and lift concrete slabs, and some other duties. Plus all my tools are packed away in her.

Oh wow, the Aussie utes must be talking to us in our sleep. I charged the battery the other day on Ozzie and yesterday it started right up. I think Ozzies is a fair weather friend, because I tried to start it a month ago but all he would do is crank. So when it started yesterday I took for a little drive and put some fresh gas in it. This is actually the first time I have driven this ute since I have had it. It is very solid and needs very little work to make it a daily driver. I plan on getting it finished and driving it a little over 200 miles and leaving it at my place on the river; it will be my boat launcher and desert toy. The vanity plates are going on this ute as well.

Swerve - thanks for the tip on disconnecting the wire behind the ignition. This ute has always drained the battery quickly.

A sound electrical system will not drain the battery. Sounds like a short somewhere drawing off current. My Patrol has sit for months with no noticeable draw down.

I agree. It used to be worse; the battery would drain in a week or so. I did find a draw in the cig lighter circuit and fixed it. Now the battery lasts longer, but it still doesn't last as long as my older Patrols. This one is a '79. Plus, it had a shell on it before and the PO had added a trailer light plug and some other interesting electrical for the shell. I don't find any shorts or draws though. Swerve's suggestion is just so much easier than chasing something that may never be found.

I know when the ignition is turned off, no pwer goes to the accessory cct at all, when on Accessories, your coil, radio, indicators, cig lighter etc all get power, start point well Acccesories and starter all get power. My only thought is maybe a faulty ignition switch somehow letting a little current though to accessories.

Need to recheck the radio (new electronic) but think it has a pemanet power conection for memory, but again this would not be affected by the ignition switch being disconnected, I started doingas a theft saftey, but seemed to work. Should reconnect it, but has become habit

Gday everyone, been painting the 66 interior again, but this time it back to its original Color that it left the dealership back in 1966. I am painting the interior with Custom Tinted Aerosol Cans, which is Actual Automotive paint, while the out side will be done by a mate, who is a great spray painter/pannelbeater, although I did have a go painting the rear Driverside quarter and sidepannel.

And I also decide to have a Go at paintingthe engine,looks pretty original,need to freshen up the Rocker Covere though,does anyone know thepaint code of the green that the cover is painted

The Color It is is #558 NISSAN VALLEY GREEN, which is actually the same color as Ferdy's 62 is.

Haven't finished the interior yet, but a couple of more weekends she will be done.

Most of the rocker covers I've seen were either blue like the engine or a sea foam green like the engine. Then I've seen some red ones and some black ones. Pick a color!

Good progress, looks like my 64s green. Heres a pic of my valve cover painted Celery! Close to sea foam. Note orig paint on air housing
