I then placed a battery on it, placed a little gas in the carb and turned the key. The little Patrol almost started!! 
Im going to purchase new spark plugs, points, rotor, distributor cap, change the oil and clean the carb. Im sure it will start. I dont want to get ahead of myself. I want to walk through the list of startup items that I initially posted. The one thing I like it how simple things are. For instance, if you need access to the front of the engine to replace something, you can pull the front of the Patrol off with just a few bolts. Pretty cool.
