Thanks Esteban we agree and it is a tight fit....we couldn't find it last night.

More support for your answer is that it wasn't present until they pulled the motor to exchange out the low quality fly wheel and torque converter for OEM parts.

Now I'm off to see if I can fit the smallest red top Optima batteries through the hatches on Presidio Patrol and CCV5.

Paul,
Good morning. I am waiting for a few little items to be fixed before I take another round of pictures. The only two remaining mechanical issues are:

A). The still unresolved loud screech at start up when vibration is at its peak and between shifts from 1st to 2nd with the auto T400 transmission. So it is now in a big shop in Boerne to trouble shoot this, their first thought was that it was a loose belt...which was all of our first thoughts too. While there I looked at the belt closely. It is new but looks very cheap and small diameter. A better quality belt might do it but I will know in a few days.
B). Since the rebuild started the transfer case has froze in 4W. The High - Low lever still works so it if stays stuck in 4W that is of no concern but we will try to unfreeze it at some point.

Tires - We ordered the Cooper STT Pro from Discount Tire. One was defective so I am waiting for the replacement to arrive for the next round of pictures.

Paint - Now it will keep the various nicks and scraps until after the Feb Patrol to Big Bend State Park because the original white paint will be systematically removed by the Ocotillo Cactus that lay across the trails out there so I will paint it in March. It will be the same paint scheme as my 73 VW Thing which was flat military green with black trim.

I can say because of its 4500 GVW and 300 HP V6 is drives very smooth.

Center Console - Because it is easier to hunt from an automatic transmission we replaced the standard transmission with the auto T400. As a result I have a eyesore between the front seats. Sometime in Feb I will have a console made for this area so it just looks better.

So I should have new pictures by Monday. It should stay that way until March. Once painted it will taken to our state trade show in Austin. I have rented about ten booths for my environmental process equipment business. Our industry is dominated by engineers and I think it will be a fun attention getter. I'm planning on providing a free dinner to anyone who guesses the manufacturer.......which isn't that great of a prize sent I have already reserved the Fogo De Chao Restaurant for our annual customer appreciation dinner.

Anyway, thanks for asking and it is has been fun to build up a Chinese trail rig that all started with a even trade for two Chinese assault rifles.

Regards,
L60Boerne

Those tires are universally liked around here so I think it was bad luck. It had bubbles in the interior of the tire.

My goal by Sat noon is to try to upload video of the BJ2020 running as smooth as 20 year old Beaudaux. Here is a pic of the 1.5 ton 1969 military trailer I plan on pulling with our gear for the Big Bend Patrol in Feb. The only problem for 2017 is that I need the lift of CCV5 to level it. BJ and Presidio Patrol sit too low.
So for 2017 the 300 HP Chinolet will pull it. The Patrol offers a James Bond payload......Just enough for a change of bikinis and a case of champagne. James Bond I am not...thus the trailer.

Cool trailer! Those sure are tall tires on that thing though! Guess behind a big 6 axle military vehicle the tires wouldn't look so big though. Does the trailer track straight/steady at interstate speeds?

Well, here is the Chinolet after the final motor tweaking by a locally "famous" mechanic. He had not personally touched a car in five years. After some negotiations he agreed to look at my " Frankenstein".
He took a personal interest and fixed the vexed computer. The loud screetch is a deflecting flywheel against something. It deminishes with every hour of operation. We are not fixing that, it was deemed an acceptable issue.

Driving the 1.5 miles from his shop to the tire shop I passed a local Sheriff. He Naturally whipped around for a chat in the 20° F weather. He pointed out a few more things I had overlooked like no registration, title or onboard insurance papers, then more things like no seat belts, rear view mirror or working wipers or horn. He was very thorough, but nice. All I could do was agree.

Just prior to seeing him I had lost the pinion seal in the front axles gears resulting in locked up front wheels. After some fiddling I got it moving again, then my legal review started, which drew a whole platoon on patrolmen to help the Sheriff.

This picture is 3 hrs later after I secured a trailer and took my lumps.

Monday I will call the judge and order a complete new front axle assembly.

You gotta want it ......

After the axle is replaced, then it goes to paint. The front grill guard is already primed.
