The original does look pretty tough to fix.

Nice one. I'd add a second drain hole while you're at it so when you stick the hose in there to clean it out the crap can be flushed out the other hole.

I already have three holes equally spaced on the pattern, I added them after I took the photo.

Made a new one out of 3/16th steel, now I just have to drill three drain holes and flap disk the edges so it looks like its one piece.

Corners rounded, three holes for drains, now just clean up attachment welds so it looks stock.
