i have two thought bubbles to add.
one, gq sus sounds great, but if your transplanting the diffs, how do you suppose to get around the central input into the rear diff pumpkin??- all g60/mq stuff is rh offset......

second......reccess the tail lights or put mesh guards over them, they will be the first thing to get busted........talking from experience, and i have another set of tail lights due to arrive any time this week

When/if I do the GQ transplant there won't be any G60 drivetrain. It would be running LS2 and GQ box and transfer.

Second.. Taillights are recessed. Photo is a little deceiving.

Well I've kinda gone backwards with HP... I wasnt convinced that the tray mounts were the best set up sooooo I cut them off and now I'm not really sure what I'm going to do now..

Sorry with the frustration, Tim, but better now than later...

I was revising your pictures and noticed that the tray at its previous setup was sitting rather high. I understand that the whole tray must clear the tire's interference, but it also causes the whole cargo to be at a higher center of gravity. Have you considered adding guards or fenders and lowering the tray to chassis height?

Go buy some 3/16's wall box tube. Best if it is roughly 2x3". Sorry you will have to do the conversions to metric! If you want it really super strong (and heavy) make them from 1/4" wall.

Now I think you have a chop saw and welder, no? Cut the box steel to fit on the frame rail and come up to the tray. Basically you are making simple body mounts. You have got to decide on height of the tray you also have to make sure all the mounts are level and on the same plane or height on the frame. Get creative with this if you lack tools, string, a good straight edge (piece of steel or wood), a level or better an angle finder. BTW, you can buy angle finders and digital levels all day long for $25. Cut the box tube in so it will saddle the frame (most strength) or so it can be welded to the side of the frame. Make pieces that look like this, // or \\ depending on which side of the frame. Cut them as long as you need to put the tray where you want. Clean up frame at mounts and weld them on. I got plenty of pictures of making your own mounts in this style, pm me or msg me on facebook if you want to see examples. You can go soft or hard mount from your body/tray mounts you make to the actual tray.

I got to do the exact same thing on my Ute and I am also making all new body mounts for my newest Land Cruiser project.

Thanks boys. I think I was on the right track I just need to refine my design a little more. I will be back out to the shed tomorrow with fresh eyes to see what I come up with.
Hopefully I'll have some good progress to show.
