The regulator is a L7809CV. Bought them on Ebay cheap.

Once it is all done, you can't tell that it has been modified, except for the rivet head.

I followed Justin's lead and bought a bunch of connectors and tools from vintage connections. I couldn't wait to try them out. The four pin connector on the wiper motor was destroyed by the sun. Five minutes in the shop and I went from this:

The extraction tools are definitely worth the price. It made removing the terminals very easy. I just changed the shells. Super easy!!!

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been working on a set of true 69' deluxe seats that came with Deuce, but I'm restoring and installing them in Ducky. They had been exposed to the elements for quite some time.
1) I took a bunch of pictures first, ever so important with upholstery.
2) I then stripped the seats down to the raw frames, including removing the springs and even the sheet metal plates that hold the springs at the front of the frames.

It's truly is a can of worms. You start with re-padding and recovering in mind, end up with sheet metal repairs, sandblasted frames complete replacement of springs and padding then you get to recover them.

3) I separated each of the petrified vinyl pieces from each other hoping to use them as patterns. The sun had shrunk some areas and not others, making it difficult to determine the true size of the pieces, so you guess, measure and hope you cut the new pieces large enough, but not too large.
4) Being a novice upholsterer, I watched dozens of You Tube videos, dozed off during some of them then finally mustered up the courage to start sewing the pieces together.

Here's a test fit of the new seat back cover. No padding or springs installed yet, hence the wrinkles. Not perfect, but more than adequate for my needs.

The black is a textured vinyl called Black Polka Dot and I got it from

The sample of the old fabric I was using when I chose this looked like a polka dot pattern. In reality, it was so old and weathered that the shrinking material looks perforated. The proper fabric looks more like #01 on this page

Don't run out and buy this one, I did not get a sample yet. I did find it much cheaper on Ebay, but did not secure a sample of that one either.

It's a 1948 Singer model 201K. All metal, no plastic on it. It sews through almost anything you get under the presser foot.
