automatic trans

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

Stan,   Automatics are much longer than the stock Patrol manual and as such wouldn't leave much of a rear driveshaft. A typical slushbox is about 24 plus inches long. The stock manual is about 9 inches. That difference would make your approx 18 inch long rear driveshaft about 3 inches long. And that is not counting an adapter to mount your transfercase to the auto.   I'd either hang in there until your new clutch shows up. Even swapping out the current 3 speed for a different manual will be expensive and difficult to complete before your clutch shows up.   Hang in there, David
