Temp Switch

So whats the secret to getting it to work. It was all good before i took the wire off and now, well, it's useless!

Temp Switch..... Are we talking about the water temp sensor in the therostat housing? If so, it should work just fine once you hooked it back up... but, a wire that old, in a spot that hot... you might have broke it internally somewhere when you removed it? Do you have a volt meter? Grant

That's the one. If i touch it to the block the guage needle moves but if it is attached to the screw it came from it doesn't move. Is that wire hot?

Be careful though, you have removed the resistance of the thermister. Thus you will be peggin your meter and might blow the fuse. >>but if it is attached to the screw it came from it doesn't move. Hmmm, well... Dumb Q time... are you leting the engine warm up? In that the resistance will change with heat and cause the needle to move. Unless the thermister is bad (ie open). >>Is that wire hot? Yes, look at the message called "WARING DIAGRAMS & ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS" Rock8man attached a file called "PatrolWiringDiagram Chiltons.jpg" Start at the dash board gauge YG wire which passes through the gauge to the YW wire, you can fallow that back to the TERMAL T/MITTER that goes to ground. The high/hot side... hard to see where it comes from, looks like it is tied to the YR wire that comes from the REGULATOR, but hard to see. But the THERMAL T/MITTER goes to ground so the *other* side has to be the high/hot side. Grant
