Soft Tops

Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

I have a question, I am a new Patrol owner, I bought a 67 L60, that is in decent shape.  I am looking for a soft top, and a pasengers door.  Do any of you guys have any idea where to get either of these items.  Are there soft tops available new from anybody in the states or in Australia.    thanks...Lee

I do not know of a source for replacement tops, but if you have a frame, you can have a shop make you a cover.  Try a shop that makes tops rag tops for boats as they have lots of experience with custom jobs.  Do you have a frame?  I have a frame and a rotted canvas top I plan to use as a pattern when I have mine made.

I also have a frame for mine and an old top that I plan as using as a pattern to make a new top eventually.  The framework is the hardest thing to get!  I have hard doors that I am willing to sell.  There were never any soft doors from what I have read in all of my literature and what I have seen on the sites.  Only hard doors that go with the hard or soft tops. -Jeff

I have thought about going into production with a soft top for the 60 models, but I wasn't sure what kind of market there would be and how much that market would be willing to pay.  If there was enough serious interest I would do it.

Maybe you could have a Defender 90 soft top modified to fit your patrol.

a D90's would be too long, I would think the closest match would be an FJ40, I've got a thrashed one in my basement, perhaps I should check that out.

Does anyone have half doors that will fit a 69? I have full doors and a hard top but want to go topless. Paul

The hard doors on the Patrol split in the middle to form 1/2 doors when you take the hard top off.  It is basically the window frames that come off the top... jeepcj_6@yahoo.com

I believe they stopped making the half doors after 1965. On my 1967 and on a 1969 I saw, there are no half doors. The door is a single unit. I wish they had made them on my year. They looked pretty cool on the 1965 I saw.   Joe W.

The early half doors have different strikers than the 69's, some modifications will be needed to use them.
