G60 Door Alignment
Hello all. I'm 18 months into doing up my 79 G60 patrol. I live in Brisbane Australia. I pulled this particular car apart right down to the chassis, cut out the rust etc etc. I went to put my doors back on the vehicle only to find that it doesn't line up by about an inch at the top and is extremely close at the bottom. This may be in part to the fact that I've put the wrong rubbers underneath the mounting points on the chassis (thin at back/to thick at front) causing the firewall to lean back similar for the tray. However, it doesn't explain the following. I am using the same hinges and the same door. But when my father and I went to mount it, the gap at the bottom hinge is neat, but the gap at the top hinge is about 4 times the size. We figured that maybe there was a top and bottom hinge so we swaped them only to get the same problem (not reversed). Has anyone here who has restored a G60 had a similar problem or know anyone else that I could give me some advice about the problem. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Chicko

I too had my patrol apart the way you do yours, however, I paid someone else to do it for me, so I wish I could help you. I do remember there was something the body guy had to do to ensure the doors hanging properly, I'll try to get a hold of him and ask him.
