easy way to lift?

I have a 67 patrol and want a lift but don't really know when to find them also was wondering if could use other 4x4 parts as subsitute? josh

why would I care if you tell him to body lift his truck?? Hockey pucks also seem way to soft for the lift of the body. Stock body mounts are made from a canvas/rubber sandwich that is layered, it is a hard product. All pucks I seen are soft and have a hollow core, they also seem to large in diameter and will protrude in places out the side of the body making it look really bad. The body mount has a hole in it that a bolt goes through to hold it in place. Drill out a puck and it would seem to me that it would collapse. A body lift will also do nothing for your suspension, the truck will ride the same. The cheapest lift to me would seem to be using longer shackles. once again doing nothing for the suspension. There are other ways to lift it also such as rearching the leafs, once again doing nothing for the suspension. My suggestion to anyone wanting to lift a P-troll......save your money and do it right. A lift kit will not only raise the truck but also make it ride better than new. Leafs to hard for your taste in the lift kits? Easy fix, remove some in the stack and remove the retaining clips. My two P-trolls with lift kits ride better than my 2001 Chevy HD and how my truck rides is half the reason I spent the money to lift them. To me there is no point in doing anything on a P-troll if it does not improve it.....so what is the point to lift it the cheap way? So you can fit bigger tires and make it look cool? Pointless IMHO if the trucks rides like crap and does not flex better than before you did your modding...save your pennies and do it right, otherwise you will always be wondering and wanting what you did not do to the truck.

Another easy way to lift is to remove your main leaves, and make "junkyard packs". Some SUA inverse-shackle trucks such as ISUZU Troopers and the like have some leaf springs with really good arches. The leaves from those packs and your main leaf will give your old springs new arch without getting the poor ride quality that Fud talks about with re-arched springs.

Oh yeah, and too long of shackles can only be used on the rear. If you use long shackles on the front, it will mess up your caster angle.

Gavin...I will reply to both your questions in this thread. #1 hockey pucks are one of the worst ways on the planet to body lift a truck. it is plain junk and will only bring you more harm then good. You need to buy new body mounts that are readily available in Australia. these are made by lot's of people and so forth. You can get rubber or poly ones and you can go with steel body mounts. The steel is better because it will not allow the body to flex thus creating stress fratctures and so on in your body. A full body lift kit with the new body mounts and right bolts will run you about $100. By your recent pictures your truck looks to have good suspension and flexs well. So other than gaining some clearance I do not see much gain from a body lift. If you have the stock 3spd tranny and you thinking of fitting larger tires do not do it. You will loose your low end crawling which is already marginal in a Patrol with a 3spd. Hate to bust the bubble but there is no locker avaiable for the C216 light duty stock diffs. You simply can not get a locker into the diff from 1960-1979 on Patrols. The exceptions are...welding the diff. Or if you happen to have a G60H, "H" for heavy duty, then you have a H260 read diff. This rare rear diff will take a detroit locker but I do not know what detroit locker. The next option to get lockers under you truck is to fit a C200 front and H233B rear from the Mq/Mk series of Patrols. This will also give you disc brakes in front. yet, this will require some fabrication and cost at least $1000 for the diffs and if you are lucky you can get them stuffed under the Patrol for that price. If you doing that you might as well spring over alxe it at the same time ofr lot's of lift. The last option for you is to find a 1980-1983 G61 series of Patrol. It is the same body style as yours but has MQ 4spd and transfer plus C200 diffs. So with the C200 diffs you can fit an ARB airlocker. Go to ARB Australia's website and look up Nissan Patrol. You will see there is no locker from them before 1980. And they are the big boys who make lockers for the largest number of vehicles. So you can be sure if they don''t have one nobody does....
