Piston Rings

Hey Red   They should... but, if your pulling the engine that far apart... are you not going to bore and hone it out a bit? ie a size or so over standard? The price on new pistons and rings is not that bad. But, dont take my word for it, you could contact the guy who rebuild my engine to find out how different the orginal psitons were from the motorpower inc ones.   Grant

Hey, Grant i'm not going to bore it , my motor was not in need of rebuilding it was almost in perfect shape. My head was in bad shape it need to be worked , and my feul pump ruptured causing oil and gas to mix gumming up the block, so i decided to tear it down to clean it up, and i found only one bad main bearing everything esle looked almost new. but i figured i'd go ahead and do a ring job as well. Using original standard pistons, thats why i was wondering about m.p.i.'s piston rings.

Hey Red!   Ah, ok, I see, that is good news! My head was in bad shape too, seems like piston 6 runs a wee bit hotter then the rest, and caused piston 6's valuves to burn pretty bad. My engine was in pretty good shape too otherwise, but I figued what the heck, just wanted to start fresh so had the whole thing done.   As for MP's rings... Give Russ Hall a call, he has my old pistons in his shop at the moment, and Im sure he remembers the kit with regards to the new rings. So, he could tell you if they are a match. Im about 99% sure they were. I know the new pistons were a  little different with regards to the skirt length, but Im allmost certin the rings were a match. But I didnt use the old pistons (bored it out) so there is a chance.. Ask Russ Im sure he will remember.   Grant
