Brand new parts book
Someone should snatch this up fast. This is the latest Patrols pats book published. The pages are smaller than the older books but still just as detailed. Grab it now before someone else does!

Re: Brand new parts book
Never had this happen before. I went to buy it and got this message from ebay.
My plan was (is) to buy it and then donate it to the 60Patrol.com. River, I can send it to you to keep or if someone else wants to be the keeper of it, that's fine. I'm even fine keeping it, but I thought we could just pass it around as needed. If someone needs to use it, the keeper can send it to them. That person becomes the keeper until someone else needs it and has it sent to them, etc.
Let me know if you all think this is a good idea.

Re: Brand new parts book
Wade,
That is very kind of you. azsteve did an ultimate job too by having the 73 book professionally scanned. This book and good scan would be a huge asset but it is a lot of work to scan.
BTW, don't worry about UKstar being closed for a few days, it is his normal schedule. Try later.

Re: Brand new parts book
That is a fantastic idea! A library book that can be checked out and passed around! I don't need to be the librarian, we could just keep a sticky post to keep track of where it is. Maybe I'm old-fashioned (duh) but I like to have a paper copy of stuff like that. That way I can grab it and take it over to what I'm working on at the moment, instead of having to wash the grease off of my hands and make sure I'm clean enough to sit on the furniture to get on the computer and bring up the file, find the page and print out what I need.Grenadier wrote:My plan was (is) to buy it and then donate it to the 60Patrol.com. That's great, Norville. I'll let you know if I'm able to get before anyone else does.
River, maybe we can do both. I'll see what kind of time investment it will take for me to scan it all. If I can swing it, we'll have a scanned set and the library book.

Re: Brand new parts book
Scanning this particular parts book would be pretty time consuming and frustrating. This is because is it a hard binding, not like other parts books that the pages are in ring binders. With the glued binding of this one you are going to have to break the binding (ruining the book) to be able to lay the pages flat enough to scan them.
I have the microfiche that (I think) this book is printed from. I looked in to converting it years ago. I could research it again to see if is an option.

Re: Brand new parts book
I have access to commercial scanners that scan to PDF. Binding would have to be broke as River pointed out but I can rebind it when done. Just a thought.

Re: Brand new parts book
I just bought this earlier today after a conversation with "ukstar", first name Saad. Very friendly guy, has access to a ton of stuff via nissan of kuwait (who knew?!). I encouraged him to register with 60patrol and he said he would, that it might help him sell his stuff more quickly. (Btw, his prices are AWESOME!)
I'll scan and upload asap when it arrives in a few weeks. I agree that a lending library is a great idea. I'll print out at least 1 copy for 60patrol circulation and would be happy to have more made for anyone who wants their own personal copy. Just pay for materials and shipping and I will do the legwork.
