Pancho and his Patrol

Post by Pancho »

Hi everybody,

I am Pancho another Patrol addict as Esteban says :D and a very proud owner of my 48 years old rig. Actually it is older than me and has been in the family since it was bought from the Nissan dealer here in Ecuador. Just two months ago I finish the restoration process which include as main items the following:
- Whole priming and painting piece by piece
- New front fenders (the originals where in bad condition due to corrosion and bad painting system)
- New rear panels, those located in the corners
- New foam and seat covers according to original specs.
- One wire alternator rated at 110 amp with electronic regulator
- High intensity beams (110W each)
- Pertronix as ignition system and 35,000 V Bosch coil
- Totally new clutch disc, plate and bearing.
- Changed crankshaft rear oil seal
- Gear box and transfer with new bearings and syncro rings.
- Installed AVM lock hubs for easy drive in high way conditions.
- Engine in good conditions with vacuum readings steady and compression test around 130 psi
- Switched from VC to VHA carburetor using brand new carb kit.
- All instruments working as they are supposed have to do. Installed additional voltmeter and vacuumeter.
- Tires 31x10.5xR15, the rear fenders where modified a bit to give enough space for the tires.
- Spring leafs and shackles are the original size but some of them new because were broken

Ok, that is what I did in my Patrol, another story is how much I spend on it, :D
Anyway, now is time to enjoy it as far as I can.

Thanks Esteban for inviting me here, is a very nice place.

Welcome, Pancho!

Glad you made it here, since all of us can benefit from your knowledge and passion for Patrols. Since I've seen yours first hand, I can attest that it's a fine example of a well preserved and maintained Patrol. The fact that's been in your family since new, even better.

I understand that for most of the 48 years, it was a daily driver like mine. Great. Will be interesting to know your chassis and engine numbers to compare with mine.

Pancho, Pancho, Pancho......why would you do this to yourself? Hanging out with Patrollers will get you into more trouble! So, let the fun begin!

Can you tell us more about your twist on oil filter conversion?

What adaptor, and what filter part number are needed?

thanks
