Wiring up Lights on 66 G60

Hi all Need help on how to Wire up the headlights on my 1966 G60 project, if I get these wired up its another step Closer to Registration.

Tomorrow is when I plan to wire up the Headlights. I've never Really done this sort of Stuff apart from Soldering. The issue I have is that I have lights of a 1969 G60 patrol and the Wiring loom for the 69's lights have a Plug on the End with 2 Red and one Black wire Connecting in the Plug.

However on my 1966 G60 the Lights originally had 3 Wires Connecting to a Fuse panel with only a Electrical Connection terminal on the end of each wire.

What I need Help with is
1: Do I Just strip back each wire and fit a Terminal Connection to the ends to then allow me to join it to the fuse panel mounted to the inner guard ?
2: If I do the above Which Terminals on the fuse box do I connect each wire to ?

PS - If I can get the headlights done and dusted wired up and working, I will then take a crack at the Front Indicator lights and both rear indicators, I wont need to do brake lights as I know they both work.

Michael, the Fuse Panel you are referring is just a terminal block with 3 points, that was present in older Patrols. Since you're keeping them, what you suggest in #1 above makes sense.

Regarding what terminals, I have marked the colors according to the electrical wiring in the following picture. Clean the wires and the colors will become apparent. I'm sure that the wires going into the headlamp have the same colors. Newer Patrols keep the same color code for these cables so you'll be fine.

Well I now got working Headlights which was a quick and simple Job, Rear brake lights working but replaced blown rear drivers light globe, all working no and light up on park light setting

Now so far I have had no luck with the front Indicators though. I repaired the broken wires on the indicator stalk using other bits of wires and joining them up with male and female electrical terminals. I joined the front driver blinker using the same procedure as above. The passenger wires weren't damaged at all so I just plugged them together.

Then I tried to see if it would work, to no luck so I Cleaned the Terminals on the fuse box and replaced all the glass Fuses, still no luck. I tried a different second hand globe, which didn't light up and does not appear blown. So now I just took of the Odometer cluster t gain access to the dash wiring.

In the dash there is a Round Barrel Relay sort of thing it appears to be, the wires connect to it are
- GREEN WITH A BLUE STRIP
- GREEN
- WHITE

This Round Barrel looking relay thingy isn't however attached to the body, I assume if this is the relay for the indicators it will need to be earthed out to a panel behind the dash ?

What you are describing is the flasher relay.

Green is power
White to the switch
Green/blue to earth

Check the earth wire. And see if there is power to either of the other two

At the moment I cannot use my test light to check the wires as I blew the globe a few weeks back, is there another possible way to check there power to the flasher relay ?

Mate get a globe.. Cheap as chips from any servo and you're mad to try finding any electrical gremlins without one.

Put one hand on an earth, and then lick the wire. If it hurts, you have power.

Well the test light is back in action and been testing away

- Green is power - POWER/WORKING
- White to the switch - POWER/WORKING
- Green/blue to earth - NO POWER

Also with the ignition on 'OFF' there is power to the Green Wire, once the ignition switch is turn to 'ON' the power goes out as the test light doesn't stay light up ??

Whats the Next step guys it obviously an earthing issue ?

too funny

clean your contacts, and the connectors. it has to be a grounding issue.
