Re: WTB Windshield Hold downs, License plate light
These are listed as hood latches, which a 60 series Patrol doesn't have, but they look like they are actually windshield hold downs.

The spring loaded clamps that Patrols use for windshield hold downs look a lot like Jeep CJ hood latches to me:

Has anyone ever broken out the tape measure and checked to see if they are the same length?

They look like FJ40 hood latches, too.

Not sure if the cj hood latches come in different lengths, but the set i have are about 1 1/2" shorter then the Patrol windshield hold downs.moore_rb wrote:The spring loaded clamps that Patrols use for windshield hold downs look a lot like Jeep CJ hood latches to me:

Ok, thanks Ron. So, they could probably still work, if you shaved that same 1.5 inch off your hockey-puck bumpers (or whatever other rubber pieces you use for the windshield to rest on)

Yes that should work, the major drawback to the cj hold downs beside length is: they dont fold down against the hood. when i get caught up with everything i have going on, I'm going to start fabricating these.moore_rb wrote:2869ral wrote:Not sure if the cj hood latches come in different lengths, but the set i have are about 1 1/2" shorter then the Patrol windshield hold downs.moore_rb wrote:The spring loaded clamps that Patrols use for windshield hold downs look a lot like Jeep CJ hood latches to me:

Maybe just fab the base different so it lays down and lengthen it too.....quick mod rather than scratch but.....?

That's not a bad idea, i could do that it would be easy. I just try to make stuff look as original as possible.bosque wrote:Maybe just fab the base different so it lays down and lengthen it too.....quick mod rather than scratch but.....?
