just one, that is all i need

Post by sleepyzzz »

i purchased my 67 Patrol from a gentleman out of Grand Junction, CO. He was the second owner. i got a factory parts book, and several brochures, but most important, the original window sticker that came new with the Patrol.

The carb had to be rebuilt, because the p o had put it back together with silicone, and now it runs great. The brakes work fine, tranny shifts pretty smooth through the gears, and the four wheel drive, and transfer case works also. I had to pull the radiator and have it re cored. New Nissan radiator hoses were located and installed along with new heater hoses and fan belt. I had the sliding rear window gaskets changed to new, and the back glass on the rear doors swapped also. i have a new windshield gasket but haven't gotten to that yet, and I might not do it until i decide if i am going to paint this or just keep driving it and enjoying as is. The heater core had a small leak when i purchased the Patrol and over the years, the antifreeze worked on the floor boards beneath with pin holes developing. That section of the floor was cut out, new metal welded in, with the body seam caulk, and primer and finish coat of Rust Kill paint. New ducts were added while we were at it. I still have to change out a choke cable, because the original was broken when i got the Patrol, and I don't care for what is in it now. I purchased another one but the threads on it, are larger than the original choke knob, and i haven't decided which way to go on that yet. I have several items on my to do list, which include new springs, shocks, wheels and tires but that will have to wait for now. I have rambled on too long, which is what i do so for now here are some pictures that i have been asked to post.

That is a very worthy looking Patrol! I definitely looks like it will reliably get you anywhere you want to go an back safely. It's been loved in some special ways, and it's ok to be unique. I like it a lot. Thanks for finally sharing!
Beyond any hope for intervention

thanks everyone, and i know one day i will get out somewhere and probably be towed back home. something will break, or go out, and i just hope it is where i can get my wife to drive my truck to me, to pull it home. i have found that once you start that " while I'm there fixing things", it never ends. I would rather just take them as they come, and spend more time driving and playing, than wrenching. but that's me. i have been in this over to Rogers AR and back to Harrison, which is close to 200 miles, and it made the trip fine. but it sure did make for a long day.

the top was given a brush down with a wire wheel attached to the angle grinder and sprayed white with the rattle cans while it was off this summer/forgot to mention that in the first post.
wish i had a shop, shed or more garage space to just keep it topless all the time. but we do have some wet cold weather coming, and maybe lots of snow and ice so the top is back on. why i bought the Patrol in the first place? at the time, we didn't own a four wheel drive, and here in the Ozark Mountains, you need that every once in awhile. And i always wanted one, because no one else in town owns one. and all i drive are Datsun, Nissan products. :D
