Anyone know what color code this one might be?

Got rust? Seats, panels, doors, windows, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Body & Interior' category are here.

Anyone know what color code this one might be?

Post by moore_rb »

any idea what color code this might be?

I looked at the paint chips that RP posted, and the only color that looks close is the metallic beige, but the paint on this Patrol is not metallic, and in a conversation with the previous owner of this one, he said that this was the original 1967 paint...

{Edit} - Hey RiverPatrol- is this the same color as your Pot Farm Patrol?

Yes, it's the same color as Pot Farm. The color code tag isn't legible as I recall though. The parts book lists a color code for beige of 529.

Robert,

Why does this Patrol have a "Datsun" emblem on the front? I know I am new to these but I have seen a ton and never one with "Datsun" on it. This Patrol looks awesome by the way.
Thanks

I've heard it suggested that some dealerships swapped out the front hood emblems in order to have less explaining to customers about the NIssan/Datsun corporate relationship during the 60's; but this is actually the only Patrol I've ever seen with the Datsun front emblem, so who actually knows who swapped it during the prior 40+ years... ?

At any rate- this is a nice Patrol, and according to Ryan the PO (yellowdatsun on the desertdatsuns forum) this one is up in Oregon somewhere, and it is still supposedly in this same condition...

I hadn't heard that rumor, but I suppose it could have happened. I may have seen one other Patrol with a Datsun hood emblem, but don't ask me when or where.

that paint looks almost too good to be original. and the Datsun letters on the hood front, instead of Nissan, makes me think this was all done when it went in the body shop for a freshen up re paint. the Datsun letters can be purchased from several vendors. But this is just me, and i am guessing. I do agree with you on the Patrol being very nice. I like it

I agree that the exterior paint looks like a respray...

either that or someone paid big bucks for a professional paint re-conditioning, and those guys typically charge more than the paint shops do

but whichever way the paint was redone, they did a good job - check the door jambs:

Hmmm... I wonder how many cracks are beneath that steering wheel cover... :?:

I asked that Mark guy whose dad used to work for the Datsun dealers in Phx about the Datsun emblem story during one of my visits to his place, and he said he thought there was a dealer over in west Phx that would swap them out before they put the Patrol on the lot.

However, since this Patrol was also once owned by one of Phx's most devout Datsun-Dorks, The Ebay emblem swap-out possibility is an equally likely possibility (and, it's a term of endearment, people, please don't get offended... I used to classify myself as a Corvette-Kook :geek: )

Kris- Mark's dad may have also been the one that fitted the FJ40 rear axle under your Patrol - he said his Dad did at least 10 of those conversions across the southwest during the 80's and 90's, and he still has a Patrol-modified Toyota axle sitting on his property (unless he has sold it since my last visit)

I remember when yellowdatsun got that Patrol, then sold it, then wanted it back. :? That is a very nice original condition Patrol.
