Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
Does anyone have a current cross-reference part number for a front wheel bearing seal (something compatible with Nissan part 40578-44000) ?
I've struck out with every Nissan part source that I've tried.

Re: Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
Hah... Allow me to answer my own question.
I tore down one of the front hubs on the red 62-5-8 machine and found the following numbers on the grease seal:
NOK FGH 40227 44001
I'll call Industrial Seals in Dallas tomorrow morning and see if they carry this NOK part number, or can cross-ref it to any other part number

Re: Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
Robert,
Maybe this can help.
The dimensions for this seal are: ID 65mm (????) x OD 88mm x Th. 11mm (11.5mm also)
2.559" x 3.465" x 0.433"
It has always amazed me that being the Patrol in inches for every nut and bolt, the seals are metric.
EDIT: see findings by Robert below. Above measurements are correct!!

Re: Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
thanks Esteban-
I checked the seal I have here (which actually came out in REALLY good condition - I would consider soaking it in wintergreen oil and re-using it if I am faced with no other choice) and I came up with:
my OD measurement matched yours: 88mm 3.443 in
My ID measurement looks a little smaller: 60mm 2.363 in (edit: this was an incorrect measurement on my part- it is indeed 65 mm, see below)
thickness: 18mm 0.706 (however, the bore looks like it could accept any press-in seal housing from 10-20mm thick)

Re: Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
Wow! Thanks for the update Robert. I got the measurements looking in some other places on the internet. I will update the post to reflect this. Don't want others to go and purchase a wrong one.
By the way, I have the races where these seals run. It is a spare part. I'm going to double check the measurement tonight.

Ok, hold the phone -
I double checked my measurements and Esteban's number on the ID is correct- 65 mm, 2.55 inches.
I must have read the wrong scale on my vernier caliper before
Esteban found a second compatible part number on Ebay (which is not surprising, because we all know that Esteban in THE MAN
) :

{Edit} Here is the part number information from the Ebay post, for after this listing runs out (2 left):
MANUFACTURER: SOG
PART NUMBER: 100053N

Re: Front Hub seals- looking for a cross-ref part number
A bit late getting on this but I have a few seals if anyone is still chasing them. I bought what was left on the shelf when I got mine redone a couple of years ago. My brake guy can order them in if ever we need more.
