Guys,
I'm rebuilding my original wiper motor. The motor itself works just fine and after disassembly appears to be in great condition. I do however need to replace the wiring and the connector and I'm painting it all Satin Black because it had some rust on the outside. Anyway what I'm needing some clarification on is the grease used on the inside of the gear and rotating electrical contacts. Is this grease just regular bearing grease or is it dielectric grease? The stuff in mine was very dried out and nasty so I cleaned it all out but need to know what to go back with. Any suggestion? I've taken a bunch of pics and will be making a full post on the rebuild when I'm done. Thanks in advance.

Re: Wiper Motor
White lithium grease will work just fine, do not lube the brushes or armature contacts. The carbon in the brushes works like a dry grafite lubricant.

Re: Wiper Motor

This is the area I am needing to put the grease in. Its the contacts that reverse the motor direction I think.

Re: Wiper Motor
Those contacts are so the motor will go to the resting position once you stop it. I have the same wiper motor in mine, since I used the one that came from a '74 that I had. When I serviced it years ago, used a fine grease all over. The suggestion of Ron with the white lithium grease is a better one.
I thought this morning about the dielectric grease for the contact area, but after seeing the picture, that grease might get contaminated with the lithium grease for the gears if you used both. I tried to find if dielectric grease could be used as a fine lubricant for gears, but couldn't find anything. Might be a good choice.
