grayson's 63

Post by grayson »

Hello to all. I have been checking out the site for a while now and finally had the time to sit down and join. I picked up my patrol about 4 months ago up in humboldt, ca. Drove all the way up there for business and came back with a $200.00 rusty Master Project (modern family reference). Figured worst case scenario would be if I didn't keep it I could sell it to someone on here and get my money back. I have since fallen for the Patrol and decided to keep the MP. I love that it isn't an fj40 and nobody knows what it is. Just kept getting thumbs up from all the old timers when it was being towed up to my dads. MP is currently being stored up at my dad's in Volcano, ca. I will add more info as I go but here are a couple of pics for you all.

Welcome to 60Patrol! :text-welcomeconfetti: Thanks for dropping by.

The body looks pretty solid on the MP. Not a bad score fore $200, that's for sure. It looks like it has been molested somewhat, but with determination it could be a driver again, unless the pics are deceiving. It would be nice to see another early Patrol running, there aren't many of them. Thanks for the pic of the VIN plate; I'll add that to the Registry when I can get on my 'puter.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Welcome! Glad to have more Patrols in Northern California! Just be careful... they are addictive! We started with one and now have four (someday, one will even be running!)

Hi and welcome! :D

If I were you I would focus on getting her in tip top mechnical condition and NEVER touch the body. That beast looks AWESOME with the natural patina.
You scored!

However, if you choose to turn this baby into a money maker, call me. I am sure there are a few parts I could use where you'd make 100 bucks in one sale.

Either way, good luck and welcome to the community!

I also hope you get the Patrol up and running. I do have some extra parts that I would trade for a 16" wheel. Let me know what you are needing.

AGREE!

Unless the rust is deep enough to affect the structure, then old 4x4's that carry a lifetime of "experience" along with them are just about the coolest vehicles out there, in my opinion (maybe 2nd to old Ford 8N/9N farm tractors, LOL)

Just clean it up, get the engine going, get the brakes stopping, get the clutch grabbing, and put a safe set of non-rotted tires on it, and then go enjoy it
