Sorry guess i know i ask alot of questions. My alternator is shot and i am in limbo on what to do. I have talked to a few people about just using a chevy alternator with only a few mods. My question is, is there another option, something with less modification maybe something more compatable with a KL. thanks again guys.

All about replacing an alternator comes to the mechanical fit. Worry about the electrical connections later, because they're easy to solve. The alternator on the Patrol is a Hitachi, so if you can find one, at least the base attachment will be the same, and only the pulley will be the problem. Hitachi's were fitted in all Datsun, Nissan, and Isuzus. The Chevy alternator is a great solution, because the electrical connection is very simple, since the regulator is integrated within. You will have to work the base and the pulley. Long ago i got rid of the original regulator and been using a Dodge electronic regulator since. These are very cheap and always available. If you need I can send you a picture and a simple diagram with the connections. Esteban
