I found a pretty good match for the later (66-on with EGR outlet) blue Air Filter housings.

Valspar Gloss Peacock Blue - 15304

I found a spot under my air box lid that was still the original color, and I rubbed it out with some rubbing compound and wax to bring it back to original condition, then I shot a spot of the Valspar color next to it -

two things

One is that the air cleaner was not a Nissan item but a supplier that was supplied to many Japanese companies. The light blue was their trademark. I have seen it on 240Zs, 510s and Toyotas.
Close is good so good job here. I have seen no direct color reference in other Datsun forums. If you have one sing out.

Second is that the body colors from the 60s are a constant source of discussion amongst the Datsun community with some correlation and some not. The roadster community seems to have settled on the colors. The 401/411/520 have not and there is a wide range of color options, many subdued as was the taste of Japan in the 60s for passenger cars. Look at the full URL of paint colors in 1964 I posted before casting judgement.

I supplied the Datsun data known so that those Patrols who have similar colors could match what Datsun painted. It is not meant to be an authoritative list. The final Patrol paint list may never happen. But we can get close given other data.

Most consumer monitors are not configured to 15,000–27,000 Kelvin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_temperature). Therefore, selecting a color/shade/tint based on your computer monitor/display screen may not result in satisfactory results.

Too blue if you are looking to get close to original out of a hardware store. I tried this color from Dupli-color 1610 Pontiac blue and it was not right......even the Dupli-color DE1618 Detroit diesel alpine green was super close but a tad dark while Miksums call for Krylons Cellery, what I run for now, was lighter in tone.
I'm temporarily photo incapable but have a comparison Phone pic and will send to John.....

After 35 years and 10 Datsuns I feel Zeds color is closest at least on my puter. I dug around in my old pics and found this 1965 Dat L320 I sold 2 years ago. Compare to Keiths link and it looks like an indoor shot while mine was outdoors on sunny day. Thus said its close enough for me!

I did not see that this post was specifically for the later models and really never even noticed there was another color for oil baths!
So, I have not been here long......66 and on were this baby blue? ....and some 66s and older are the sea foamish color?
