XTERRA for towing 2500 lbs - buy or don't buy

Any current or past owners of the XTERRA have any experience on towing?
(Currently, we bumper-pull a travel trailer with a 2002 5.3 Tahoe 4x4 and I am looking to replace it with a V6 or L6 SUV.)
Thanks,
Keith

It should be fine for 2500lbs, but it won't be like pulling it with the Hoe.
Here is some Xterra towing info that may be useful to you:

We have a 2006 4x4 off road model with the 6 speed manual. I have used it to pull 4 5-600# atvs on a1000# trailer, and our 19' boat that I would guess weighs 3-3500lb. It has no problem doing this even up the passes, may need to drop down to 4th but have never dropped below 55-60mph. I typically use a newer duramax diesel to tow but would not hesitate to use the X for anything under 5000lb. FYI I did put add a leafs on the rear just for towing.

I assume you are looking at a newer model with the 4.0 L, I also owned a 2000 X 3.3L and it was a dog, and I don't think the supercharged version was any better. It had trouble with one ATV.
