Twin Steering Dampers

Post by Rolly »

Hi all. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have twin steering dampers on their Patrol? Mine has one that bolts onto the front stabiliser and another that bolts onto a clamp that's bolted onto the diff. I've looked at pics on the site but couldn't see one like mine.

The only Patrol I am aware of the had 2 dampers was this one: http://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic ... ing#p14739 . And the second one was a poorly done custom job.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Thanks River, I'd forgotten about that awesome mod. Thankfully mine appears a bit more professional. It has a bracket u-bolted to the diff that also doubles as a mount for the brake lines. Just got a new computer and have to find the disc to upload the program for my camera so can't post pics atm.

Rolly, i think that the double setup is overkill, no matter how well it's done. A good damper should handle everything.

I saw on other pictures of your Patrol that it's fitted with a small steering wheel. Does it has a power steering also?

Hi Esteban, I wish it had power steering. That is a little steering wheel isn't it, fitted by the PO and dangerous as it's held on to the steering column by only half the thread of the nut. I'll be getting rid of it before the car ever hits the road.
Noticed last night I was incorrect saying that the second mounting bracket also held the brake lines. It doesn't.
